Suppressing singlet-triplet annihilation processes to achieve highly efficient deep-blue AIE-based OLEDs

Chengwei Lin et al.

Summary: Aggregation-induced emission (AIE) materials are attractive for high-efficiency organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) due to their ability to harness hot excitons and high photoluminescence efficiency. However, current AIE-based OLEDs suffer from unrevealed exciton loss processes, limiting their electroluminescence efficiency. This study enhances the efficiency of blue AIE-based OLEDs by suppressing singlet-triplet annihilation (STA) through the use of triplet-triplet annihilation up-conversion. The resulting deep-blue AIE-based OLEDs achieve a high external quantum efficiency and negligible efficiency roll-off.
