Adipose mesenchymal stem cell-derived soluble factors, produced under hypoxic condition, efficiently support in vivo angiogenesis

Ludovica Barone et al.

Summary: Tissue regeneration or healing requires efficient vascularization in the damaged area. Various strategies have emerged to support re-vascularization, including the use of pro-angiogenic soluble factors as a cell-free tool. This study compared the effectiveness of different methods using adipose mesenchymal stem cells (ASCs) to promote angiogenesis, and explored the impact of hypoxia on ASC-mediated angiogenesis. The results demonstrate that ASC-conditioned medium can effectively support angiogenesis and that hypoxia enhances its pro-angiogenic activities.

Endoglin Modulates TGFβR2 Induced VEGF and Proinflammatory Cytokine Axis Mediated Angiogenesis in Prolonged DEHP-Exposed Breast Cancer Cells

Mahendra Jadhao et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of phthalate exposure on angiogenesis in triple-negative breast cancer cells. The findings revealed that exposure to phthalates induced angiogenesis in breast cancer cells. Additionally, the overexpression of the glycoprotein endoglin (ENG) was found to be associated with tumor development and growth, and knocking down ENG inhibited phthalate-induced angiogenesis. Targeting ENG could potentially serve as an alternative treatment for controlling angiogenesis, limiting metastasis, and inhibiting cancer progression.

Cell-3D matrix interactions: recent advances and opportunities

Kenneth M. Yamada et al.

Summary: Cell-ECM interactions are essential in development, diseases, and tissue remodeling. Recent advances in research have provided detailed descriptions of ECM molecules, identified distinct modes of cell migration in different ECM environments, and offered new insights into organ formation mechanisms. The dynamic nature of these interactions and the feedback loops involved can contribute to disease progression.
