Long term stability of a high-entropy CoCrFeNiTi alloy fabricated by mechanical alloying

A. S. Rogachev et al.

Summary: The stability of high-entropy alloys is crucial for their fundamentals and practical applications. This study experimentally investigated the phase and microstructural evolution of a near-equiatomic Co0.18Cr0.20Fe0.24Ni0.19Ti0.19 alloy during long-term isothermal annealing. The alloy exhibited a stable composition after prolonged heat treatment, with released Ti atoms acting as getters for oxygen and forming sub-micron TiOx particles.

Investigations on TaHf alloys for thin film resistor applications

Kao-Yuan Wang et al.

Summary: TaHf thin films deposited by cosputtering are suitable for resistive layers in thin film chip resistors, offering higher resistivity and smaller temperature coefficient. The temperature coefficient of resistance can be adjusted through annealing. TaHf alloy has poorer thermal stability and corrosion resistance compared to pure Ta films, but still outperforms NiCr thin films.

Multicomponent high-entropy Cantor alloys

B. Cantor

Summary: Multicomponent high-entropy Cantor alloys, discovered in the late 1970s, occupy a vast region of multi-component phase space and exhibit excellent mechanical properties due to high configurational entropy. The complexity of local atomic configurations and associated lattice strains in these alloys contributes to their unique characteristics and potential for further enhancement and optimization.

Investigation on solid particles erosion resistance of laser cladded CoCrFeNiTi high entropy alloy coating

Shiyi Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, a crack-free and porous-free CoCrFeNiTi HEA coating was successfully prepared on a 304 stainless steel substrate by laser cladding, exhibiting obvious metallurgical bonding and different microstructure characteristics. The coated HEA had a significantly higher hardness than the substrate, and showed lower erosion rates in erosion tests.

Influences of Process Parameters on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of CoCrFeNiTi Based High-Entropy Alloy in a Laser Powder Bed Fusion Process

Takafumi Ikeda et al.

Summary: This study utilized a laser-based powder bed fusion (LPBF) process to investigate the influences of process parameters on the microstructure and mechanical properties of CoCrFe NiTiMo HEAs. A process map was constructed to optimize the fabrication conditions based on evaluating density and surface roughness. The fabricated specimens at the optimum condition exhibited high relative density, anisotropic microstructure, and superior mechanical properties.

Nanotwinned CoCrFeMnNi high entropy alloy films for flexible electronic device applications

Ze Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, nanotwin strengthening was used to design nanocrystalline CoCrFeMnNi high entropy alloy films (HEAFs) with high-density nanotwins, providing good toughness, high fatigue resistance, and electrical resistivity. Nanotwins constrained void initiation and crack propagation, detwinning during cyclic loading enhanced fatigue resistance, and high-density grain boundaries and lattice distortions hindered electron movement, resulting in high electrical resistivity. These findings reveal the potential of using nanotwins to tune the mechanical properties of HEAFs for flexible electronic devices.
