Experimental study on thermal and mechanical properties of tailings-based cemented paste backfill with CaCl2.6H2O/expanded vermiculite shape stabilized phase change materials

Xiaoyan Zhang et al.

Summary: CaCl2.6H(2)O/expanded vermiculite shape stabilized phase change materials (CEV) were prepared by atmospheric impregnation method for cemented paste backfill (CPB). The addition of CEV significantly increased the heat capacity and storage capacity of CPB. However, it also led to increased pore size and decreased thermal conductivity and compressive strength of CPB. The recommended proportion scheme for CPB is a cement-tailing ratio of 1:6 and 12% CEV, with a recommended heat storage/release temperature cycle range of 20-40°C.

Novel fluxing strategy of copper matte smelting and trace metals in E-Waste recycling

Min Chen et al.

Summary: The distribution behavior of trace metals between copper matte and spinel-saturated iron silicate slags at low silica concentrations and high temperatures was investigated. The study found that silver and nickel can be effectively recovered into matte, while cobalt and tin are predominantly deported into slag and gas phases, respectively. These findings contribute to the fundamental thermodynamic data of trace metal distributions in copper smelting processes.

The Phase Transition and Element Distribution of Copper Smelting Slag in the Cooling-Sulfidation Process

Shuheng Cao et al.

Summary: Copper smelting slag, the largest solid waste in the copper-making process, can be effectively recovered using slow cooling beneficiation with the addition of CaS for sulfidation purposes. The phase transition and element distribution behaviors during the cooling process were experimentally investigated, revealing the influence of cooling rate and initial slag composition.

Reduction Kinetics of Copper Slag by H2

Baojing Zhang et al.

Summary: This study proposes a process for smelting copper-iron alloy with copper slag and determines the suitable reduction conditions. Experimental results show that the reduction rate and metal content of copper slag can reach a high level under certain conditions. The study also finds that the reduction process is influenced by both internal diffusion and chemical reaction.
