Consolidation and reduction behaviour of pellets with sea sand vanadium titanomagnetite: a microscopic interpretation of macroscopic properties

Zhenxing Xing et al.

Summary: In this paper, the chemical composition, mineral phase composition, and microstructure of pellets were analyzed by various methods. The effect of thermal regulation on the compressive strength and reduction performance of pellets was explained. The results showed that the roasting temperature had a significant influence on the compressive strength, and the increase in porosity weakened the intergranular bonding and led to a reduction in compressive strength.

Non-isothermal oxidation induration mechanism of vanadium titanomagnetite pellets

Ruiqi Zeng et al.

Summary: This study investigates the non-isothermal oxidation induration mechanism of vanadium titanomagnetite (VTM) pellets by examining changes in compressive strength, porosity, phase composition, and morphology. The results show that the compressive strength of VTM pellets increases gradually during the non-isothermal oxidation induration process, while the porosity exhibits an opposite trend. The phase transformations of valuable elements include Fe3O4 → Fe2O3, FeTiO3 → Fe2TiO4 → Fe2Ti3O9 → Fe2TiO5, and Fe2VO4 → V2O3. The number of pores decreases and the size of hematite grains increases with the increase of induration temperature. The non-isothermal oxidation induration mechanism of VTM pellets is discussed based on experimental and characterization results. These findings provide theoretical support for the utilization of VTM.

Migration Behavior of Valuable Components in Pellets with Sea Sand Vanadium Titanomagnetite During the Oxidation Roasting Process

Zhenxing Xing et al.

Summary: In this study, the compressive performance, phase composition, and microstructure of oxidized pellets were analyzed using various techniques. The migration behavior of valuable components in ordinary pellets and vanadium-titanium pellets was also investigated. The results revealed that the phase composition and valuable components of the pellets undergo migration and changes through oxidation and solid-phase reactions. The consolidation mechanism of vanadium-titanium pellets was similar to that of ordinary pellets, involving primarily solid-phase consolidation with some liquid-phase bonding.

Phase transformations during fluidized bed reduction of New Zealand titanomagnetite ironsand in hydrogen gas

Sigit W. Prabowo et al.

Summary: This paper examines the phase and microstructural evolution of New Zealand titanomagnetite ironsand during fluidized bed reduction by hydrogen gas. The experimental results show that the sticking of particles does not occur within a certain temperature range, indicating the feasibility of fluidized bed processing of this type of iron ore.

Comprehensive evaluation of high-temperature sintering behavior of sea sand vanadia-titania magnetite based on grey relational analysis

Zhen-xing Xing et al.

Summary: This paper comprehensively studied the high-temperature physicochemical characteristics and sintering behavior of sea sand vanadia-titania magnetite and systematically evaluated its influence on sintering performance. The experimental results showed that the sintering characteristics of sea sand vanadia-titania magnetite were the worst, and were affected by the basicity and addition amount of sea sand ore. The best evaluation index was achieved when the basicity was 0.8 and the addition amount of sea sand ore was 15 wt%.
