Experimental Investigation of Reservoir Fluid Interlayer Crossflow Through Fracture During the Drainage Stage of Coal Measure Gas Well

Qian Wang et al.

Summary: Coal measure gas (CMG) development is effective in increasing gas production of coalbed methane wells. The migration law of reservoir fluid during CMG development is different from single-layer development and needs further exploration. This study investigates fluid interlayer crossflow (IC) law during CMG well drainage and proposes a method to mitigate water blocking damage, thus promoting the efficient development of CMG. This research contributes to the understanding of CMG migration law and provides fundamental support for the optimization of CMG development technology.

Mechanism of supercritical CO2 on the chemical structure and composition of high-rank coals with different damage degrees

Fangfang Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the mechanism of supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) extraction in technically deformed coals under deep coal seam conditions. The results showed that SC-CO2 had a significant dissolution effect on the organic functional groups and minerals of technically deformed coal, and the effect increased with the degree of coal tectonic deformation. The dissolution effect on carbonate minerals was the most significant, followed by clay minerals, while oxide minerals were relatively stable and showed little reaction. The response characteristics of porosity, permeability, and adsorption caused by changes in mineral and organic composition should be considered when injecting CO2 into deep coal seams.

Mineral dissolution and pore alteration of coal induced by interactions with supercritical CO2

Kang Chen et al.

Summary: CO2 injection into coal seams enhances coalbed methane recovery and achieves CO2 geological sequestration. Supercritical CO2 (SC-CO2) interactions with coal alter pore structure and mineral compositions, increasing gas adsorption and storage capacity.

Microbial electrolysis enhanced bioconversion of coal to methane compared with anaerobic digestion: Insights into differences in metabolic pathways

Weizhong Zhao et al.

Summary: Coal seams are important sites for the accumulation of coalbed methane and carbon sequestration. The use of microbial electrolysis cell technology has shown potential to enhance the production of biomethane from coal, by improving hydrolysis efficiency and interspecies electron transfer during coal digestion. This study provides valuable insights into the development of efficient and low carbon technologies for enhancing biomethane production and reducing CO2 emissions.

Experimental study of advantages of coalbed gas bioengineering

Xianbo Su et al.

Summary: Coalbed gas bioengineering (CGB) is a fermentation engineering that converts organic components of coal to methane, enhancing coalbed gas production. Laboratory simulations using different rank coals showed that all ranks of coal have potential for biomethane production. The bioconversion process also enhanced coal seam desorption capacity for methane and increased coal permeability.

Enhanced coalbed methane recovery by the modification of coal reservoir under the supercritical CO2 extraction and anaerobic digestion br

Weizhong Zhao et al.

Summary: Coal reservoir can be modified through Sc-CO2 extraction and Sc-CO2-AD treatment to enhance CBM recovery. Sc-CO2 extraction increases coal pore volume and porosity, and weakens adsorption capacity. After Sc-CO2-AD treatment, coal porosity continues to increase, permeability is improved, and adsorption capacity for methane decreases.

Feasibility study of enhanced biogenic coalbed methane production by super-critical CO2 extraction

Hongguang Guo et al.

Summary: The study presents a new approach of enhancing coalbed methane production by microbial degradation based on Sc-CO2 extraction. Results showed that Sc-CO2 plays a critical role in improving methane yields, forming more functional groups, and increasing coal bioavailability. This study proves the feasibility of enhancing CBM via microbial degradation with Sc-CO2 extraction.

Application of a Spiral Symmetric Stream Anaerobic Bioreactor for treating saline heparin sodium pharmaceutical wastewater: Reactor operating characteristics, organics degradation pathway and salt tolerance mechanism

Qi Song et al.

Summary: In this study, a Spiral Symmetry Stream Anaerobic Bioreactor (SSSAB) was used to treat actual saline heparin sodium pharmaceutical wastewater (HSPW), achieving a COD removal rate of 82%, higher than other reactors at similar salinity. The main organic compounds in HSPW are benzenes, with the degradations of phenol and p-cresol as the major rate-limiting steps. The microbial community in anaerobic granular sludge (AGS) adapted to the HSPW treatment, demonstrating the superiority of the SSSAB structure.
