Blood cell characterization and transcriptome analysis reveal distinct immune response and host resistance of different ploidy cyprinid fish following Aeromonas hydrophila infection

Ning-Xia Xiong et al.

Summary: Infection of A. hydrophila can lead to decreased blood cell counts, blood cell damage, and alterations in immune-related tissue levels in red crucian carp and triploid cyprinid fish. Differential signal regulations were observed in response to bacterial infection in fish with different ploidy levels.

Comparative effects of dietary soybean oil and fish oil on the growth performance, fatty acid composition and lipid metabolic signaling of grass carp, Ctenopharyngodon idella

Yunlong Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of fish oil (FO) and soybean oil (SO) on the growth performance, nutrient composition, and metabolic signaling in grass carp. The results showed that different lipid sources affected the nutritional composition of grass carp, but had no significant impact on growth performance. Gene expression analysis and pathway analysis revealed potential regulatory mechanisms involved in fatty acid metabolism.

Identification, expression patterns, evolutionary characteristics and recombinant protein activities analysis of CD209 gene from Megalobrama amblycephala

Hujun Cui et al.

Summary: In this study, the MaCD209 gene of Megalobrama amblycephala was cloned and characterized. The gene was found to be highly expressed in the liver and heart and was significantly induced upon Aeromonas hydrophila infection. Recombinant MaCD209 protein showed excellent bacterial binding and agglutinative activities.

Molecular Characterization, Expression, Evolutionary Selection, and Biological Activity Analysis of CD68 Gene from Megalobrama amblycephala

Hujun Cui et al.

Summary: CD68 is a highly glycosylated transmembrane glycoprotein involved in immune processes in fish. In this study, the expression patterns and evolutionary characteristics of Megalobrama amblycephala CD68 (MaCD68) were analyzed. MaCD68 was highly expressed in different tissues and played a role in the host's innate immune response against bacterial infection. Moreover, MaCD68 may serve as a macrophage marker and be involved in immune responses.
