Effects of Panax ginseng and ginsenosides on oxidative stress and cardiovascular diseases: pharmacological and therapeutic roles

Sun Hee Hyun et al.

Summary: Asian ginseng or Korean ginseng, Panax ginseng, has been traditionally used in Korea and China for the treatment of various diseases. Its main active component, ginsenoside, is known for its pharmacological effects such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-diabetic properties, which can prevent cardiovascular diseases and oxidative stress-related damage.

How to fill the GAPS-I in secondary prevention: application of a strategy based on GLP1 analogues, antithrombotic agents, PCSK9 inhibitors, SGLT2 inhibitors and immunomodulators

Pierre Sabouret et al.

Summary: The continuous progress in cardiovascular risk prevention strategies has led to a reduction in mortality and recurrent ischemic events in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). However, the control of several cardiovascular risk factors remains suboptimal in many CAD patients. The GAPS-I strategy offers a promising potential in patients with high residual cardiovascular risk, by addressing their individual risk factors.

Ginsenoside Rb3 upregulates sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca2+-ATPase expression and improves the contractility of cardiomyocytes by inhibiting the NF-?B pathway

Mingyan Shao et al.

Summary: This study found that G-Rb3 improves cardiac function and reduces inflammation by inhibiting the nuclear translocation of NF-KB p65, reducing the levels of the inflammatory marker CD45, and enhancing the expression of key proteins in the contraction unit. Further experiments confirmed that G-Rb3 improves cardiac function by suppressing the blockage of NF-KB p65 on the SERCA2a promoter and increasing SERCA2a expression.

Dual pathway inhibition for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease: Recent advances

Stephanie Carlin et al.

Summary: Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) is a serious condition that is associated with significant morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. Antiplatelet therapy, especially the dual pathway inhibition (DPI) strategy of combining aspirin and low-dose rivaroxaban, has shown benefits and cost-effectiveness in preventing ASCVD events. The absolute benefits of DPI therapy vary depending on the type and history of the disease. Additional trials are being conducted to assess the impact of DPI therapy in other populations of interest.

Acute Myocardial Infarction Associated With a Mobile Left Ventricular Thrombi

Gaspar Del Rio-Pertuz et al.

Summary: The majority of acute coronary syndromes are caused by thrombotic occlusions in the coronary artery as a result of plaque erosion or rupture. Coronary embolism, which is often overlooked, can also be an important underlying cause of acute coronary syndrome. This case report describes a young patient with ST elevation myocardial infarction suspected to be caused by coronary embolization originating from a left ventricular thrombus.
