Sourav Sadhukhan et al.

Summary: Industrial silicon solar cells are advancing towards Tunnel Oxide Passivated contact (TOPCon) technology to enhance the efficiency of passivated emitter and rear contact (PERC) solar cells. TOPCon technology involves fully passivating the rear side of the cell using an oxide/poly-Si tunneling junction, and further improvements can be achieved by incorporating selective tunneling junctions underneath the front contacts. Through detailed analysis and optimization, various parameters such as tunnel oxides and poly-Si layers have been adjusted to achieve a significant improvement in efficiency.

PERC Solar Cells on p-Type Cz-Si Utilizing Phosphorus-Doped $SiN_{X}$ Layers

Mohammad Hassan Norouzi et al.

Summary: Phosphorus-doped silicon nitride layers are applied on the front surface of p-type Czochralski-grown silicon passivated emitter and rear cells, providing excellent surface passivation and high implied open-circuit voltages. Laser doping is utilized to introduce additional dopants into silicon, forming highly doped areas to decrease sheet resistance. This nPassDop approach combines local high doping and structuring of anti-reflection coating in a single process step, resulting in high energy conversion efficiencies for large-area solar cells.

Large area co-plated bifacial n-PERT cells with polysilicon passivating contacts on both sides

Sukhvinder Singh et al.

Summary: This work demonstrates the integration of polysilicon-based passivating contacts in plated bifacial n-type PERT solar cells, showing the potential for full exploitation of passivated contacts. Successful co-plating of n-poly and p-poly on both sides of n-PERT cells was achieved, with selective patterning used to mitigate parasitic absorption losses. Different patterning methods for front side polysilicon were compared, with a best efficiency of 22.7% achieved on large area n-type Cz. These cells have also passed thermal cycling tests and show potential for efficiencies above 24%.
