Ru-doped lanthanum ferrite as a stable and versatile electrode for reversible symmetric solid oxide cells (r-SSOCs)

Martina Marasi et al.

Summary: In the field of innovative energy systems, the reversible solid oxide cells (r-SOCs) have gained recognition due to their high conversion efficiency. This study investigates the use of 5 mol% Ru-doped lanthanum ferrite as a multi-functional electrode, which improves the stability and performance of the cells. The experiments showed high power density and current density, and the reversibility of the cells was successfully evaluated.

Platinum Group Metals: Green Recovery from Spent Auto-Catalysts and Reuse in New Catalysts-A Review

Maria Luisa Grilli et al.

Summary: This manuscript reviews the current trends in the recovery of Platinum Group Metals (PGMs) from end-of-life autocatalysts, focusing on the greening of recovery processes and the reusing of recovered PGMs for new catalysts. The article analyzes different recovery routes and technologies for reducing environmental impact. The review also highlights the potential of mechanochemical processing and the development of PGM-based catalysts directly from leach solutions for a more efficient and sustainable PGMs loop closure.

Synthesis, characterization, and methanol steam reforming performance of Cu/perovskite-structured catalysts

Anahita Mortazavi-Manesh et al.

Summary: In this study, Cu/perovskite-type structures of the general formula Cu/Ca(ZrxTi1-x)O3 (x = 1, 0.8, 0.6) were synthesized via sol-gel process and wetness impregnation method. The physicochemical properties of the catalysts were analyzed using various techniques. The catalysts showed high activity, selectivity, and sustainability, with significant improvement in catalytic activity due to the morphological features of the synthesized Cu/perovskite-type porous structures. Notably, the prepared Cu/Ca(Zr0.6Ti0.4)O3 catalyst exhibited remarkable activity in methanol steam reforming.

Confined Ni-In intermetallic alloy nanocatalyst with excellent coking resistance for methane dry reforming

Wenming Liu et al.

Summary: Carbon dioxide and methane are major greenhouse gases contributing to global warming, but dry reforming of methane (DRM) can convert them into useful products. However, the coking formation on nickel-based catalysts is a challenge for industrialization. Confined indium-nickel intermetallic alloy nanocatalysts show superior resistance to coking in DRM, with the In0.5Ni@SiO2 catalyst demonstrating the best balance of carbon deposition resistance and reactivity. This study provides guidance on designing high-performance catalysts for methane dry reforming to utilize greenhouse gases efficiently.

Enhancing Oxygen Reduction Activity and Structural Stability of La0.6Sr0.4FeO3-δ by 1 mol % Pt and Ru B-Site Doping for Application in All-Perovskite IT-SOFCs

Martina Marasi et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effect of controlled noble metal doping in La0.6Sr0.4FeO3-δ (LSF), with platinum and ruthenium successfully introduced at the B-site, resulting in improved electrocatalytic properties of the perovskite structure. Both doping options showed promising results, with platinum increasing oxygen vacancies to promote the oxygen reduction reaction and reduce polarization resistance, while ruthenium enhanced stability in reducing conditions and promoted the exsolution of metal nanoparticles. All-perovskite cells fabricated with LSFR/LSGM/LSFP exhibited remarkable performances in the intermediate-temperature range when tested with H-2.

Cu supported on various oxides as a candidate catalyst for dry methane reforming in DIR-SOFCs systems

Adrian Mizera et al.

Summary: A series of Cu-support systems were tested as potential candidates for DIR-SOFC catalysts in the dry reforming of methane (DRM). The catalytic activity of Cu-support materials in DRM reaction depends on the copper oxidation state and specific surface area. Cu-SrTiO3 exhibited the highest catalytic activity among all the materials tested.
