Tumor-derived extracellular vesicles: The metastatic organotropism drivers

Jafar Rezaie et al.

Summary: The communication between tumor cells and resident cells in the tissue environment is mediated through the secretion of particles called extracellular vesicles (EVs). These EVs play vital roles in tumorigenesis, including pre-metastatic niche formation and organotropic metastasis, by altering the tissue microenvironment and inducing phenotypic alterations in cells. EVs have potential therapeutic applications in cancer management as targeted therapy, cell-free therapy, drug delivery system, and diagnostic biomarker.

Safety and effectiveness of low-dose aspirin for the prevention of gastrointestinal cancer in adults without atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease: a population-based cohort study

Jessica J. P. Shami et al.

Summary: This cohort study assessed the association between low-dose aspirin and the incidence of colorectal cancer, gastric cancer, esophageal cancer, and gastrointestinal bleeding. The results showed that low-dose aspirin reduced the risks of colorectal cancer and gastric cancer, but increased the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding. However, among patients prescribed gastroprotective agents at baseline, the association with gastrointestinal bleeding was attenuated.

Tumor Cells-derived exosomal CircRNAs: Novel cancer drivers, molecular mechanisms, and clinical opportunities

Ali Vahabi et al.

Summary: Recently, circRNAs have gained increasing interest due to their abundant expression and potential functions in cancer development. They may act as sponge for miRNAs and proteins, promoting cancer progression. CircRNAs frequently show tumor-specific expression and can serve as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for cancers. They can also be potential targets for cancer treatment as they can sponge oncogenic miRNAs and proteins. Exosomes, containing circRNAs, deliver them to target cells and induce cancer development through different signaling pathways. Exosomal circRNAs may serve as diagnostic and prognostic biomarker for cancers. Targeting exosomes may represent novel therapeutic approaches for cancer treatment.

Exosomes reveal the dual nature of radiotherapy in tumor immunology

Xinru Hu et al.

Summary: This review explores the dual effects of radiotherapy on the immune system and the role of exosomes in mediating these effects. It discusses how radiation-induced changes in exosomes can either inhibit or activate the immune system, leading to immunosuppression or immune clearance. By analyzing the relationship between exosome-derived molecules and immunity, this review sheds light on the potential of using exosomes to improve the treatment and prognosis of cancer patients.

Exosomes Derived from Senescent Endothelial Cells Contain Distinct Pro-angiogenic miRNAs and Proteins

Shadi Abdolrahman Shaban et al.

Summary: Exosomes from senescence cells have been found to play important roles in endothelium dysfunction. In this study, we investigated the cargo of exosomes released by endothelial cells undergoing senescence in vitro. We found that these exosomes have distinct miRNA and protein expression profiles, and can affect the migration rate of endothelial cells.

Mechanism and clinical value of exosomes and exosomal contents in regulating solid tumor radiosensitivity

Huihui Sun et al.

Summary: Radiotherapy is a common treatment for malignant tumors, and recent studies have shown the role of exosomes in tumor development and metastasis. The latest research suggests that radiation can affect the characteristics of exosomes and cell communication. The molecules carried by exosomes in cancer cells have differential expression and play a role in regulating biological processes such as oncogene expression.
