An Electrochemical Screen-Printed Sensor Based on Gold-Nanoparticle-Decorated Reduced Graphene Oxide-Carbon Nanotubes Composites for the Determination of 17-β Estradiol

Auwal M. Musa et al.

Summary: A screen-printed electrode modified with gold-nanoparticle-decorated reduced graphene oxide-carbon nanotubes (rGO-AuNPs/CNT/SPE) was used for the determination of estradiol (E2) in this study. The eco-friendly production of AuNPs using plant extract eliminated the need for severe chemicals and sophisticated fabrication methods. The rGO-AuNPs/CNT/SPE exhibited improved electrochemical performance compared to bare SPE and GO-CNT/SPE, as shown by the relative peak currents. The optimized estradiol sensor showed linear sensitivity from 0.05-1.00 μM with a detection limit of 3 nM and yielded stable and reproducible outcomes.

Photocatalytic performance of Ag/TiO2/SiO2 nanocomposite synthesized by eco-friendly pulsed laser ablation technique

Abbad Al Baroot et al.

Summary: Sequestration of organic pollutants using nano-photocatalysts is an efficient and cost-effective approach for wastewater treatment. Ag/TiO2/SiO2 nanocomposites containing different loads of Ag were prepared using a laser ablation technique. The nanocomposites showed enhanced photocatalytic performance in degrading methylene blue due to the presence of Ag, which improved the separation of photogenerated electron/hole pairs. This study demonstrates the feasibility of laser ablation in fabricating excellent-performing photocatalytic materials.

Synthesis of Ag nanoparticles-decorated on CNTs/TiO2 nanocomposite as efficient photocatalysts via nanosecond pulsed laser ablation

Muidh Alheshibri et al.

Summary: A simple and reproducible self-templating method was developed to synthesize silver nanoparticles decorated on CNTs/TiO2 nanocomposite using nanosecond pulsed laser ablation. The resulting nanocatalysts showed enhanced photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue dye contaminant. Morphology, heterostructure, and the nature of incorporation of the nanocomposite catalysts were confirmed by TEM and SEM microscopy. XRD analysis confirmed the crystalline nature of the nanocatalysts. PL analysis provided information about surface defects and electron-hole recombination properties of the prepared nanocatalysts. Efficient ultraviolet light-induced photodegradation of the dye was achieved using the TiO2/CNT and Ag/TiO2/CNT nanocomposite catalysts.
