Microfluidic Point-of-Care (POC) Devices in Early Diagnosis: A Review of Opportunities and Challenges

Shih-Mo Yang et al.

Summary: Early diagnosis of infectious diseases is crucial for increasing recovery rates and preventing disease spread. However, in areas with limited medical facilities, timely detection of diseases is challenging. Microfluidic point-of-care (POC) devices offer a rapid and cost-effective solution for disease detection. This review provides an overview of microfluidic POC devices and their applications, emphasizing their potential in underdeveloped regions to mitigate the impact of diseases and improve quality of life. Discussions include current applications in infectious diseases, cardiovascular diseases, tumors, and chronic diseases, as well as future possibilities in wearable devices and telemedicine. The review concludes by analyzing the current state of the microfluidic field and proposing recommendations to establish standards for these devices.

Effect of Humidity on Gas Sensing Performance of Carbon Nanotube Gas Sensors Operated at Room Temperature

Mostafa Shooshtari et al.

Summary: The study found that an increase in humidity can reduce the electrical conductivity of CNT gas sensors by around 4%, but for humidity above 80%, the conductivity slightly increases. Additionally, the response of the sensors to volatile organic compounds decreases by 40% with a change in humidity up to 80%.

Tactile and Thermal Sensors Built from Carbon-Polymer Nanocomposites-A Critical Review

Chenwang Yuan et al.

Summary: This paper provides a critical review of tactile and thermal sensors built from carbon nanomaterial-filled polymer composites, using a systematic knowledge architecture to classify information and knowledge. It discusses the principle behind these composites functioning as temperature and pressure sensors, the different structures of CNPC sensors, as well as their behavior and performance. The review also explores the fabrication of CNPC sensors and suggests future research directions, including the need for a network of CNPC sensors that can be installed on curved bodies like robots.
