Direct Modulation Bandwidth Improvement in Two-section DFB Lasers Based on the Detuned Loading Effect

Yifan Xu et al.

Summary: A directly modulated two-section distributed feedback semiconductor laser is proposed and investigated. The detuning of the gratings in the two sections is achieved using the reconstruction-equivalent-chirp technique, resulting in improved modulation bandwidth. The device has potential applications in optical communications and microwave photonics.

200-Gb/s Direct Modulation of a 50-GHz Class Laser With Advanced Digital Modulations

Di Che et al.

Summary: The article introduces a newly designed 50G-class short-cavity DBR laser, named the two-kappa DBR laser, demonstrating its capability of supporting high-speed transmissions. Combined with high-speed electronics, the 50G-class DML also shows the ability to support various advanced digital modulations, with a maximum net bit rate of 236 Gb/s.

Improvement on Direct Modulation Responses and Stability by Partially Corrugated Gratings Based DFB Lasers With Passive Feedback

Siti Sulikhah et al.

Summary: DFB lasers with partial corrugated gratings and passive feedback are proposed to address the challenges of directly modulated lasers. By designing a specific structure, high single-mode yield is maintained while improving modulation response and reducing waveform distortions. These lasers offer robustness in applying integrated passive reflectors for reshaping modulation response and enhancing bandwidth.
