Comparison of parent reported physician diagnosed asthma and general practitioner registration

Summary: This study compares parent reported physician diagnosed asthma with general practitioner recorded childhood asthma and finds only moderate agreement between the two. The labeling of early transient wheeze as asthma diagnosis may influence the agreement. Therefore, combining parent reported physician diagnosed asthma with additional questions is important for obtaining reliable information in epidemiological research.

The Environmental Influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO)-Wide Cohort

Summary: The ECHO-Wide Cohort Study (EWC) is a collaborative research project funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in 2016 to improve children's health in the United States. Association of a Housing Mobility Program With Childhood Asthma Symptoms and Exacerbations

US Childhood Asthma Incidence Rate Patterns From the ECHO Consortium to Identify High-risk Groups for Primary Prevention

Summary: This study evaluated childhood asthma incidence rates across the nation and found that asthma family history, race/ethnicity, and sex were associated with childhood asthma incidence rates. Black children had significantly higher incidences rates during the preschool years, but only in the absence of a family history of asthma. These results suggest that interventions targeting early life should be developed to prevent asthma.
