Prevalence of Vitiligo Among Adults in the United States

Summary: The study revealed that the overall prevalence of vitiligo in adults in the US (including diagnosed and undiagnosed cases) is estimated to be between 0.76% (approximately 1.9 million cases in 2020) and 1.11% (approximately 2.8 million cases in 2020). Additionally, it suggests that around 40% of adult vitiligo cases in the US may be undiagnosed. Further research is needed to validate these findings.

Psychosocial Effects of Vitiligo: A Systematic Literature Review

Summary: The systematic review on psychosocial burden in vitiligo found that patients commonly experience comorbidities such as depression, anxiety, feelings of stigmatization, sleep disturbance, relationship difficulties, and avoidance behavior. The prevalence of these comorbidities was significantly higher in vitiligo patients compared to healthy individuals. Factors associated with a higher burden included female sex, younger age, and greater body surface area involvement. Treatment strategies should focus on addressing these psychosocial issues to improve patients' well-being.
