Index and winding numbers on T2/ZN orbifolds with magnetic flux

Hiroki Imai et al.

Summary: We investigated the independent chiral zero modes and winding numbers at fixed points on T2/ZN (N = 2, 3, 4, 6) orbifolds with magnetic flux. For N = 2, we derived the index formula n+ - n- = M/2 + (-V+ + V-)/4 = M/2 - V+/2 + 1 using the trace formula, where n± are the numbers of chiral zero modes and V± are the winding number sums at fixed points on T2/Z2. Under an assumption, we also obtained the formula n+ - n- = M/N + (-V+ + V-)/(2N) = M/N - V+/N + 1 for N = 3, 4, 6.

On representation matrices of boundary conditions in SU(n) gauge theories compactified on two-dimensional orbifolds

Yoshiharu Kawamura et al.

Summary: We examine the existence of diagonal representatives in each equivalence class of representation matrices of boundary conditions in SU(n) or U(n) gauge theories compactified on the orbifolds T-2/DOUBLE-STRUCK CAPITAL Z(N) (N = 2, 3, 4, 6). At least one diagonal representative necessarily exists in each equivalence class on T-2/DOUBLE-STRUCK CAPITAL Z(2) and T-2/DOUBLE-STRUCK CAPITAL Z(3), but the representation matrices on T-2/DOUBLE-STRUCK CAPITAL Z(4) and T-2/DOUBLE-STRUCK CAPITAL Z(6) can contain not only diagonal matrices but also non-diagonal ones as members of block-diagonal submatrices. These non-diagonal matrices have discrete parameters, indicating rank-reducing symmetry breaking caused by the discrete Wilson line phases.

Index theorem on magnetized blow-up manifold of T2=7LN

Tatsuo Kobayashi et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigate blow-up manifolds of T2=7LN(N = 2; 3; 4; 6) orbifolds with magnetic flux. We construct the blow-up manifolds and determine the zero-mode wave functions more precisely. The Atiyah-Singer index theorem is applied to the blow-up manifolds to determine the chiral zero-mode number and additional zero modes from localized flux.

Dirac gaugino from grand gauge-Higgs unification

Hiroaki Nakano et al.

Summary: This article investigates the embedding of models of the Dirac gaugino into a grand unified theory (GUT) called the grand gauge-Higgs unification (gGHU) model. By introducing a novel theoretical framework, the mass term of the Dirac gaugino can be obtained. The coefficient of this term is calculated by analyzing the profile of fermion zero modes. This study contributes to a better understanding of fundamental properties in particle physics.

Gauge symmetry breaking in flux compactification with a Wilson-line scalar condensate

Kento Akamatsu et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the gauge symmetry breaking in six-dimensional theories through flux compactification. By introducing a magnetic flux background and a constant vacuum expectation value (VEV) for the scalar fields, the generation of one-loop effective potential is shown. Calculations are carried out for SU(2) and SU(3) Yang-Mills theories, indicating the breaking of gauge symmetry with nonzero VEV.

Minimal SU(6) gauge-Higgs grand unification

Andrei Angelescu et al.

Summary: In this paper, we present a minimal viable gauge-Higgs grand unification scenario in warped space based on a SU(6) bulk symmetry. The issue of light exotic new states is eliminated by breaking the gauge symmetry on the UV and IR boundaries, and the Standard Model fermion spectrum is naturally reproduced. The Higgs potential at one loop is computed and solutions with a realistic m(h) similar to 125 GeV are found.

Cancellation of one-loop corrections to scalar masses in flux compactification with higher dimensional operators

Takuya Hirose et al.

Summary: In a six dimensional SU(2) gauge theory with higher dimensional operators compactified on a torus with magnetic flux, we further studied the cancellation of one-loop corrections to the scalar mass. Our explicit diagrammatic calculations show that even with the leading terms of the higher dimensional operators, these corrections are exactly canceled.

Nonvanishing finite scalar mass in flux compactification

Summary: This paper explores the possibility of achieving a nonvanishing finite Wilson line scalar mass in flux compactification. By deriving conditions and categorizing interaction terms, the explicit demonstration of a nonvanishing finite WL scalar mass in six-dimensional scalar QED is provided.
