Large N algebras and generalized entropy

Venkatesa Chandrasekaran et al.

Summary: We construct a Type II infinity von Neumann algebra that describes the large N physics of single-trace operators in AdS/CFT without perturbative corrections. The entropy of semiclassical states on this algebra is dual to the generalized entropy of the black hole bifurcation surface. By considering equilibration and re-excitation of a black hole, we derive the quantum-corrected Bekenstein-Hawking formula and show the monotonicity of the entropy of algebras under trace-preserving inclusions. Furthermore, we construct a free product von Neumann algebra to describe the semiclassical physics of long wormholes supported by shocks, and compute Renyi entropies for this algebra.

Reflected entropy in random tensor networks

Chris Akers et al.

Summary: This article studied the duality between reflected entropy and the area of the entanglement wedge cross section in random tensor networks. The important non-perturbative effects that smooth out the discontinuity in the reflected entropy across the Page phase transition were analyzed. By summing over these effects, the reflected entanglement spectrum was obtained analytically, consistent with numerical studies. A prescription for the analytic continuation required in computing the reflected entropy and its Renyi generalization was proposed, resolving an order of limits issue previously identified in the literature. The results from hyperbolic tensor networks were found to be consistent with holographic expectations.

The Page curve for reflected entropy

Chris Akers et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigate the reflected entropy in the West Coast Model and analyze its properties through holographic duality and important non-perturbative effects. We find that the reflected entanglement spectrum takes a simple form and that fluctuations in area can affect the location of the phase transition.

Gravity and the crossed product

Edward Witten

Summary: In this study, an emergent algebra in the operator algebra of N = 4 super Yang-Mills theory was identified. The 1/N corrections to this algebra led to the emergence of a Type II infinity algebra. In this context, the entropy of a black hole state is well-defined and independent of the state.

Canonical purification of evaporating black holes

Netta Engelhardt et al.

Summary: We demonstrate that the purification of an evaporating black hole after the Page time involves a connected Lorentzian wormhole between two asymptotic boundaries, with one being unitarily related to the radiation. This realization aligns with the predictions of ER = EPR and allows for a standard calculation of radiation entropy within AdS/CFT without modifying the homology constraint. Prior to the Page time, the purification consists of two disconnected semiclassical black holes. By constructing bipartite entangled holographic CFT states from this, we speculate that measures of multipartite entanglement could provide a more comprehensive understanding of spacetime emergence.

A world without pythons would be so simple

Netta Engelhardt et al.

Summary: In this work, it is shown that bulk operators between the outermost extremal surface and the asymptotic boundary can be reconstructed simply in the classical limit, contrary to the Python's lunch conjecture. The 'simple wedge' reconstruction method is based on the principle of causal bulk propagation using perturbed boundary conditions. The authors also propose the Simple Entropy proposal and discuss the holographic duality of black hole uniqueness.

The Markov gap for geometric reflected entropy

Patrick Hayden et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the reflected entropy of a density matrix and its relation to quantum mutual information, introducing the concept of the Markov gap and deriving a lower bound for it in pure AdS(3) gravity. The study also explores the generalization to higher dimensions and analyzes the Markov recovery problem using fixed area states. Connections to the theory of multipartite entanglement in holography are discussed throughout the paper.

Bootstrapping quantum extremal surfaces. Part I. The area operator

Alexandre Belin et al.

Summary: This study aims to systematically link quantum extremal surfaces to the microscopic data of the dual conformal field theory, particularly the scaling dimensions of local operators and OPE coefficients. Focusing on the case in AdS(3)/CFT2, it is found that the Virasoro identity block contributes solely to the area operator.

Universal Tripartite Entanglement in One-Dimensional Many-Body Systems

Yijian Zou et al.

Summary: This study introduces two related non-negative measures of tripartite entanglement and shows that states with nonzero measures have nontrivial entanglement. Additionally, it demonstrates that these entanglement measures in one dimension depend only on the emergent low-energy theory. For a gapped system, it argues that entanglement measures either both nonzero or both zero, depending on the system's ground state. Furthermore, a numerical algorithm is developed for computing entanglement measures in critical systems.

Summary: In the context of AdS/CFT, we examine the properties of reflected minimal surfaces and introduce a novel replica trick in CFTs for studying the reflected entropy, establishing a new understanding of entanglement entropy and its relationship with the entanglement wedge cross-section.

Information transfer with a gravitating bath

Hao Geng et al.

Summary: The late-time dominance of entanglement islands is crucial in addressing the information paradox for AdS black holes coupled to a non-gravitational bath. When considering entanglement between different sectors, non-trivial time-dependence is observed. However, discontinuous changes in entropy properties occur with variations in the angle.

Seeing the entanglement wedge

Adam Levine et al.

Summary: The study introduced a unitary operation that brings the entanglement wedge into causal contact with the boundary, including cases related to boundary sub-regions, which is closely related to the Connes Cocycle flow. The discussion also involved generalizing the work by Ceyhan & Faulkner to regions consisting of disconnected spherical caps.
