Using Λc+ → pK- π+ as a spin polarimeter

Summary: This paper discusses the importance of polarization transfer measurement in the search for new physics processes in charmed baryon decays, and suggests using the Lambda(+)(c) -> pK(-)pi(+) decay for spin polarization measurement. A general description of the decay is developed using Euler angles, and the polarization parameters are derived using a phenomenological amplitude model. A Monte-Carlo simulation is performed to determine the polarization of charmed baryons using selected asymmetry parameters.

Progress towards the first measurement of charm baryon dipole moments

Summary: This study reports progress towards the first measurement of charm baryon dipole moments using the spin precession of channeled particles in bent crystals. Sensitivity studies show that first measurements of Lambda(+)(c) and Xi(+)(c) baryon dipole moments can be achieved within two years of data taking with an experimental setup positioned upstream of the LHCb detector, through the design and characterization of silicon and germanium bent crystal prototypes, optimization of the experimental setup, and advanced analysis techniques.
