SparseDGCNN: Recognizing Emotion From Multichannel EEG Signals

Guanhua Zhang et al.

Summary: In this article, a sparse DGCNN model is proposed to improve the emotion recognition performance by imposing a sparseness constraint on the graph G. The research reveals that different brain regions may have different functions and the functional relations among electrodes are possibly highly localized and sparse. The experiments show that the sparse DGCNN model has consistently better accuracy than representative methods and has good scalability.

EEG-Based Emotion Recognition Using Regularized Graph Neural Networks

Peixiang Zhong et al.

Summary: In this article, a regularized graph neural network (RGNN) is proposed for EEG-based emotion recognition. The RGNN captures both local and global relations among different EEG channels by considering the biological topology among different brain regions. The proposed adjacency matrix and two regularizers contribute to the improved performance of the RGNN model.

Inter-Brain EEG Feature Extraction and Analysis for Continuous Implicit Emotion Tagging During Video Watching

Yue Ding et al.

Summary: This paper presents an EEG-based real-time emotion tagging approach by extracting inter-brain features from participants watching the same emotional video clips. The inter-brain amplitude feature had better prediction performance than other features, with regression values obtained for arousal and valence. The results show promising potentials of inter-brain EEG features in real-time emotion tagging applications.

Inter-brain amplitude correlation differentiates cooperation from competition in a motion-sensing sports game

Huashuo Liu et al.

Summary: Cooperation and competition, two basic modes of human interaction, have underlying neural mechanisms that are not fully explored. This study used hyperscanning techniques to investigate the neural correlates of both modes, revealing distinct inter-brain coupling patterns and spatial patterns for cooperation and competition. The findings suggest the importance of adopting an inter-brain perspective in exploring the neural underpinnings of social interaction in ecological contexts.

Cross-Subject EEG-Based Emotion Recognition Through Neural Networks With Stratified Normalization

Javier Fdez et al.

Summary: Efforts have been made to create machine learning models that can recognize emotions from physiological recordings, particularly using EEG as a low-cost method. The study introduces a participant-based feature normalization method, stratified normalization, which improves emotion classification from EEG signals. Results show that networks trained with stratified normalization outperform standard training, with the best model reaching high classification accuracies for two and three emotion categories.
