Genetic resources in asparagus: diversity and relationships in a collection from different origins and breeding status

Lucia D. Amato et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the genetic diversity of asparagus from different origins using SRAP markers. The results showed that the genetic base of asparagus is not as narrow as previously thought, and there is no clear origin-related grouping among different regions. This information could be useful for delineating crosses to seek potential hybrid vigor.

Genome-wide Association Study for Yield and Yield-Related Traits in Diverse Blackgram Panel (Vigna mungo L. Hepper) Reveals Novel Putative Alleles for Future Breeding Programs

Lovejit Singh et al.

Summary: Blackgram is an important legume crop with limited genetic variability and challenges in high-yield breeding. A study evaluating 100 blackgram genotypes identified a wide range of variability and high heritability for yield-related traits in multiple environments. Population structure analysis revealed four sub-populations. Through SNP associations and QTL analysis, 49 significant SNP associations and 42 QTLs were identified, with statistical significance in the allelic effects of 37 QTLs and the discovery of 50 candidate genes in 24 QTLs.

The bHLH1-DTX35/DFR module regulates pollen fertility by promoting flavonoid biosynthesis in Capsicum annuum L.

Zhishuo Zhang et al.

Summary: This study identified CabHLH1 as a candidate gene for controlling pollen fertility in pepper. It was found that CabHLH1 regulates the synthesis of anther flavonoids, which affects pollen vigor and fertility. These findings provide important insights into the factors affecting pollen fertility in pepper.

Genetic Variability Assessment of a Diploid Pre-Breeding Asparagus Population Developed Using the Tetraploid Landrace 'Morado de Huetor'

Veronica Garcia et al.

Summary: This study aimed to develop new diploid plant material using a tetraploid landrace 'Morado de Huetor' to widen the genetic base of garden asparagus. The results showed that the new population had higher genetic diversity compared to diploid cultivars and could be used to expand the genetic base of current diploid asparagus cultivars.
