The Assembly of Flagella in Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli Requires the Presence of a Functional Type III Secretion System

Jorge Soria-Bustos et al.

Summary: This study investigates the relationship between flagella expression and the type III secretion system (T3SS) in enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC). The results suggest that the assembly of an intact T3SS is required for flagella production, and certain regulator genes play a role in activating or inhibiting flagella expression.

The synergistic toxicity effect of di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate and plant growth disturbs the structure and function of soil microbes in the rhizosphere

Longfei Jiang et al.

Summary: DEHP contamination in the rhizosphere can affect microbes, leading to a decrease in microbial quantity, a shift in community structure, and enrichment of potential DEHP-degrading bacteria. However, the synergistic effect of DEHP and plant growth may influence certain microbes, resulting in significant differences in relative abundance and diversity. DEHP also has important impacts on microbial function, causing changes in genes related to cell motility, biofilm formation, and genetic information processing.

Di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) exposure suppressed the community diversity and abundance of ammonia-oxidizers and mitigated N2O emissions in an alkaline soil

Rui Tao et al.

Summary: Exposure to phthalic acid esters (PAEs) significantly reduces N2O emissions in soil, decreases microbial biomass carbon and nitrogen, alters the compositions of ammonia-oxidizing archaea (AOA) and ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB) communities, and results in a decrease in AOA and AOB amoA gene abundances.

Distribution, source apportionment, and health risk assessment of phthalate esters in indoor dust samples across China

Xu Li et al.

Summary: Phthalates were widely detected in indoor dusts in China, with significant differences in concentration distribution due to economic development and PAE product usage. Potential sources of PAEs in indoor dusts included cosmetics, plasticizers, and household building materials. Noncancer risks were posed by DBP, DEHP, DnOP, and BBzP exposure, while carcinogenic risks from BBzP and DEHP were negligible.
