Clubfoot, a common congenital musculoskeletal condition, is best treated using the Ponseti technique. Accurate and thorough neurological examinations are necessary for identifying atypical cases and the need for specific corrective maneuvers. Long-term follow-up is crucial for minimizing progressive deformities, emphasizing the importance of individualized care.
Clubfoot continues to be one of the most common congenital musculoskeletal conditions treated worldwide. Through research, the Ponseti technique has proven over the years to be the first-line treatment in congenital clubfoot. It remains essential to be accurate with this approach while too performing a thorough neurologic examination throughout the care of each child. This will continue to help in the identification of the atypical subset and need for this specific maneuver to obtain deformity correction. Despite care some children will need more in their lifetime. Long-term follow-up while the child grows will help minimize progressive rigid deformities. Individualized care should be the focus.
