Enabling ultranarrow blue emission linewidths in colloidal alloy quantum dots by decreasing the exciton fine structure splitting and exciton-phonon coupling

Jinke Bai et al.

Summary: The reduction of inhomogeneous and homogeneous broadening is important for achieving narrow spectral linewidths in colloidal alloy quantum dots (QDs). It has been found that the homogeneous broadening mechanism is influenced by exciton fine structure splitting and exciton-phonon coupling. In this study, lattice mismatch strain is eliminated using a coherent strain structure, which decreases the light-heavy hole splitting and suppresses asymmetric broadening. Additionally, the uniformity of the alloy is improved using a stepwise ion exchange strategy, which weakens exciton-longitudinal optical (LO)-phonon interactions and further minimizes homogeneous broadening. The resulting alloy QD products exhibit a widely tunable blue emission wavelength with narrow ensemble photoluminescence full width at half maximum.

Coherent heteroepitaxial growth of I-III-VI2 Ag(In,Ga)S2 colloidal nanocrystals with near-unity quantum yield for use in luminescent solar concentrators

Hak June Lee et al.

Summary: The authors report the coherent heteroepitaxial growth of Ag(In,Ga)S-2 core-shell nanocrystals with near-unity photoluminescence quantum yield across almost the full visible range. These nanocrystals, with tunable band gap within the visible range, have received significant attention. They exhibit high absorption cross-section and narrow emission linewidth, making them ideal for wide-ranging photonic applications. The successful heteroepitaxy between AIGS and AGS leads to enhanced optical properties and makes these nanocrystals suitable for practical applications.

Reducing Emission Linewidth of Pure-Blue ZnSeTe Quantum Dots through Shell Engineering toward High Color Purity Light-Emitting Diodes

Yuhe Bi et al.

Summary: This article proposes a strategy for fabricating high color purity and efficient pure-blue quantum dot light-emitting diodes (QLEDs). By controlling the internal ZnSe shell thickness of the quantum dots (QDs), the emission linewidth can be narrowed, resulting in high color purity. The regulation of the QD shell thickness also helps suppress energy transfer between QDs, further reducing the emission linewidth. The fabricated pure-blue ZnSeTe QLEDs exhibit ultra-narrow electroluminescence linewidth and high color purity with considerable external quantum efficiency.

Interfacial Manganese-Doping in CsPbBr3 Nanoplatelets by Employing a Molecular Shuttle

Linzhong Wu et al.

Summary: This article presents a post-synthetic method for Mn-doping in cesium lead halide perovskite nanoplatelets through the transportation of Mn salt solution by the electron-donating oleylamine at the water-hexane interface. The halide anion also plays a crucial role in maintaining the appropriate radius of Mn2+. The dopant incorporation and exciton-to-dopant energy transfer process can be tuned by varying the thickness of the parent nanoplatelets.

Elucidating the Unique Hot Carrier Cooling in Two-Dimensional Inorganic Halide Perovskites: The Role of Out-of-Plane Carrier- Phonon Coupling

Qi Sun et al.

Summary: This study reveals the intrinsic carrier dynamics in 2D perovskite quantum wells using CsPbBr3 nanoplates as a model system. A ultrafast and hot-phonon-bottleneck-free carrier cooling is observed in monodisperse CsPbBr3 quantum wells, in contrast to bulk and nanocrystalline perovskites. The absence of hot-phonon-bottleneck is attributed to the efficient out-of-plane triplet-exciton-LO-phonon coupling in 2D perovskites.

Highly efficient green InP-based quantum dot light-emitting diodes regulated by inner alloyed shell component

Peng Yu et al.

Summary: In this study, we reported highly efficient green-emitting InP-based QLEDs regulated by inner alloyed shell components. The insertion of a gradient inner shell layer, ZnSexS1-x, resulted in InP-based QDs with the narrowest full width at half maximum and highest quantum yield. The resulting QLEDs showed high external quantum efficiency and electroluminescence peak, which is significant for the preparation of InP-based green-emitting QLEDs.

Exciton Dynamics in Colloidal CdS Quantum Dots with Intense and Stokes Shifted Photoluminescence in a Single Decay Channel

Hemen Gogoi et al.

Summary: CdS quantum dots synthesized by a sol-gel method exhibit significantly Stokes shifted bright photoluminescence, predominantly from the trap states. The photoluminescence decay at the emission maximum is single-exponential, indicating a narrow distribution in the nature of trap states. An additional fast decay component is observed at shorter emission wavelengths, possibly due to band edge emission, which remains elusive in the steady-state spectra. Transient absorption spectra reveal the exciton dynamics in the quantum dots, with stimulated emission observed even at low pump power.

Pushing the Band Gap Envelope of Quasi-Type II Heterostructured Nanocrystals to Blue: ZnSe/ZnSe1-XTeX/ZnSe Spherical Quantum Wells

Jun Hyuk Chang et al.

Summary: Quasi-type II heterostructured nanocrystals have shown great potential for controlling charge carriers, but material choices have limited their emission wavelength range. By engineering the layers and wave functions, ZnSe/ZnSe1-XTeX/ZnSe/ZnS NCs exhibit near-unity photoluminescence quantum yield across a broad range of emission wavelengths (450nm to 600nm). Dichromatic white NC-based light-emitting diodes using a mixed layer of blue- and yellow-emitting ZnSe/ZnSe1-XTeX/ZnSe/ZnS SQW NCs have been successfully demonstrated.
