Near-infrared to red-light emission and carrier dynamics in full series multilayer GaTe1-xSex (0≤x≤1) with structural evolution

Luthviyah Choirotul Muhimmah et al.

Summary: This study investigated the structural and optical properties of full-series multilayer GaTe1-xSex (0 ≤ x ≤ 1). Experimental results showed that the GaTe1-xSex layers may contain hexagonal (H) phase and monoclinic (M) phase, with the H-phase dominating when x ≥ 0.5. The photon emission energy of the M-phase GaTe1-xSex increased as the Se content increased, while that of the H-phase GaTe1-xSex decreased in the red to near-infrared (NIR) region. The decay lifetime of the band-edge emission was faster in the M phase than in the H phase for 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.4. The predominantly H phase GaTe1-xSex showed greater dark resistivity and photoconductive response under visible-light illumination. The GaTe1-xSex multilayers demonstrated superior light-emission and photodetection capability for future optoelectronic devices.

Study on the effect of size on InGaN red micro-LEDs

Ray-Hua Horng et al.

Summary: In this research, it is observed that the smaller the size of the InGaN red micro-LED, the more obvious the blue shift of the emission wavelength with increasing injection current. Smaller chip micro-LEDs exhibit similar output power density at the same injection current density.

Summary: The optical properties of FL GaSe were investigated, and it was found that the vibrational modes softened linearly with increasing temperature. The photoluminescence showed a red-shift and a decrease in intensity with temperature. The binding energy of excitons was also calculated.

The band-edge excitons observed in few-layer NiPS3

Ching-Hwa Ho et al.

Summary: Band-edge excitons of few-layer nickel phosphorous trisulfide (NiPS3) are characterized using micro-thermal-modulated reflectance (mu TR) measurements from 10 to 300 K. The A exciton series and B feature are simultaneously detected near the band edge of NiPS3, with A potentially correlating with d-to-d transitions and exhibiting varying binding and transition energies at different temperatures.

Dual phase two-color emission observed in van der Waals GaTe planes

Luthviyah Choirotul Muhimmah et al.

Summary: In this study, dual-phase two-color emissions of multilayered gallium monotelluride were accurately detected by micro-photoluminescence and micro-thermoreflectance measurements, confirming the presence of hexagonal and monoclinic phases, as well as the higher polarized extinction ratio of monoclinic-phase GaTe. These findings suggest the potential for fabrication of two-color emission devices for near-infrared optical communication.
