Evaluation of pre- and post-fire flood risk by analytical hierarchy process method: a case study for the 2021 wildfires in Bodrum, Turkey

Osman Salih Yilmaz et al.

Summary: Wildfires in multiple areas of Turkey, including the touristic town of Bodrum, have affected approximately 17,600 hectares of forest. A study using AHP and GIS determined the fire-affected areas and found a significant increase in flood risk following the wildfire. The model's prediction ability was proven to be reasonably accurate.

Assessment of long and short-term flood risk using the multi-criteria analysis model with the AHP-Entropy method in Poyang Lake basin

Jinru Wu et al.

Summary: This study proposes a multi-criteria analysis model to assess the long and short-term flood risk in the Poyang Lake basin, which is verified by actual flood events. The results show that population density, maximum three-day rainfall, land use pattern, GDP, and annual average rainstorm frequency play a vital role in flood risk assessment. The study also finds that the northeastern parts of the Poyang Lake basin are more prone to floods, and the flood risk decreases gradually towards the surrounding areas. The validation using Sentinel-1 synthetic aperture radar data shows that the assessment model has a high accuracy in identifying high and very high risk zones for floods.

Flood Risk Assessment of Subway Systems in Metropolitan Areas under Land Subsidence Scenario: A Case Study of Beijing

Guangpeng Wang et al.

Summary: Flooding is a highly destructive natural disaster that severely impacts the ground and underground infrastructure. This study focuses on assessing the flood risk of metropolitan subway systems in the context of land subsidence using the FAHP and GIS. The results for the Beijing subway system show a ring-like distribution of flood risk, with higher risks in the central urban area decreasing towards the suburbs, and land subsidence exacerbating the overall flood risk levels.

Flood Risk Assessment of Metro System Using Improved Trapezoidal Fuzzy AHP: A Case Study of Guangzhou

Guangpeng Wang et al.

Summary: This study proposes a method for assessing the flood risk of metro systems, showing that high-risk areas of the Guangzhou Metro are concentrated in central urban areas. Recommendations for raising exits, installing watertight doors, and early warning strategies are suggested as measures to resist metro floods.
