Bioactive glass with biocompatible polymers for bone applications

Janhavi Sonatkar et al.

Summary: Bioactive glasses have been traditionally used for permeating and repairing bone defects, with 45S5 Bio glass being a prime artificial material developed by Larry Hench. These materials have exceptional biocompatibility and can form a HA coat in the body. Various synthesis techniques have been developed for bioactive glasses containing biocompatible polymers, aiming to review the modern evolution of glass for bone regeneration. These glasses can connect to osseous matter and restore new bone growth over time, ultimately restoring the ailing or defective bone to its original condition and function.

Preparation and characterization of apoacynum venetum cellulose nanofibers reinforced chitosan-based composite hydrogels

Chenmeizi Wang et al.

Summary: Investigated the influence of cellulose nanofibers on the mechanical properties, water absorption capacity, pH sensitivity, and antibacterial properties of chitosan hydrogels. Found that adding 1.5% CNFs increased compressive strength by nearly 20% and water absorption capacity by 140%.

Surface modifications of nanocellulose: From synthesis to high-performance nanocomposites

Mehran Ghasemlou et al.

Summary: Nanocellulose is a highly promising material with abundant and renewable sources, biocompatibility, nanoscale dimension, high specific surface area, and tunable surface chemistry. However, its hydrophilicity presents challenges for its dispersion in hydrophobic host polymers. Manipulation of nanocellulose's interfacial properties is crucial for its successful application in new materials development.
