Three-dimensional shaped and contour pattern synthesis with multiple beam approach

Sankaravel Prasad et al.

Summary: A method for synthesizing multi-beam patterns from a planar phased array antenna to generate three-dimensional shaped and contour patterns is proposed. The method supports dynamically changeable contour shapes and compensates for the influence of the far-field shape.

Efficient and Accurate Synthesis for Array Pattern Shaping

Minseok Kang et al.

Summary: In this paper, an efficient APS approach for controlling the sidelobe level is proposed. By performing Fourier transform on the projection of the waveform pattern onto the mask template, a set of element excitations is calculated, which can be used to synthesize the desired array pattern. This approach achieves substantial improvements in computation complexity, performance, and ease of implementation compared to conventional methods.

Effects of Narrow Beam Phased Antenna Arrays over the Radio Channel Metrics, Doppler Power Spectrum, and Coherence Time, in a Context of 5G Frequency Bands

Brian J. Sanchez et al.

Summary: This paper discusses the importance of Doppler power spectrum (DPS) and radio channel coherence time (CT) in 5G wireless systems, and explores the effects of a narrow beam phased antenna array in reducing DPS and increasing CT. Through analyzing beamwidths of different elements and geometries of the phased antenna array, better performance in terms of CT and DPS was achieved in 5G cellular scenarios.

mmWave multibeam phased array antenna for 5G applications

S. Prasad et al.

Summary: This study presents a fully integrated 28 GHz, 5G mmWave microstrip phased array antenna on a multilayer substrate, providing independently steerable multiple beams and utilizing a computation method to generate these beams. The impacts of hardware impairments on the performance of the array are analyzed through simulation and measurements, with results comparing measurements and simulations for single, dual, and multiple beams over arbitrary angles. The proposed multibeam computation method is validated through measurements at 28 GHz for dual beam cases with equal and unequal power beams and a side lobe level of better than 17 dB.

An Improved Pattern Synthesis Iterative Method in Planar Arrays for Obtaining Efficient Footprints with Arbitrary Boundaries

Aaron Angel Salas-Sanchez et al.

Summary: This paper addresses an iterative technique for reproducing efficient footprints with arbitrary boundaries for planar arrays, based on expressing continuous aperture distribution as a Fourier series. Examples and case studies were conducted to showcase the application and potential of this method in practical scenarios, such as space applications from geostationary satellites.

An Efficient Fast and Convergence-Controlled Algorithm for Sidelobes Simultaneous Reduction (SSR) and Spatial Filtering

Yasser Albagory

Summary: This paper proposes an efficient algorithm for reducing sidelobe levels (SLL) and spatial filtering for linear one-dimensional arrays, achieving very deep SLL with steady state behavior. The algorithm, known as the sidelobes simultaneous reduction (SSR) algorithm, has the capability to effectively reduce any angular range of the radiation pattern.
