Lecanemab in Early Alzheimer's Disease

Christopher H. van Dyck et al.

Summary: Lecanemab, a humanized monoclonal antibody, reduced amyloid markers and showed improvement in cognition and function in early Alzheimer's disease patients. However, it also resulted in adverse events. Longer trials are needed to determine its efficacy and safety in early Alzheimer's disease.

Novel Invisible Spectral Flicker Induces 40 Hz Neural Entrainment with Similar Spatial Distribution as 40 Hz Stroboscopic Light

Mikkel Pejstrup Agger et al.

Summary: This study presents a novel method of 40 Hz entrainment using invisible spectral flicker (ISF) and shows that ISF has a higher signal-to-noise ratio in 40 Hz neural activity compared to continuous light (CON) and 40 Hz stroboscopic light (STROBE). This method could be a new treatment option for Alzheimer's disease and could reduce discomfort for patients.

Amyloid-Related Imaging Abnormalities with Emerging Alzheimer Disease Therapeutics: Detection and Reporting Recommendations for Clinical Practice

P. M. Cogswell et al.

Summary: Monoclonal antibodies are a new therapy for Alzheimer's disease that require brain MR imaging for assessment and monitoring of amyloid-related imaging abnormalities. These abnormalities result from treatment-related loss of vascular integrity and can manifest as edema or effusion, or as hemorrhage. With increasing availability of these antibodies, neuroradiologists must become familiar with the imaging appearance, select appropriate imaging protocols, and report findings. Standardized imaging and reporting are important for determining patient management and eligibility for continued monoclonal antibody dosing.

Summary: Overall, the study highlights the urgent need for new treatments for Alzheimer's disease, and shows that a diverse range of drugs targeting the biology of AD are being explored in clinical trials. Biomedical biomarkers are also being increasingly used in these trials to assess effectiveness.
