Transcriptome and Gene Co-Expression Network Analysis Identifying Differentially Expressed Genes and Signal Pathways Involved in the Height Development of Banana (Musa spp.)

Bingyu Cai et al.

Summary: Plant height is an important agronomic trait associated with yield and resistance to stresses. In this study, the popular banana cultivar 'Brazilian banana' and its dwarf mutant were compared to identify genes related to plant height. The analysis revealed several differentially expressed genes and identified key genes in the signaling pathways of gibberellic acid and indole acetic acid that regulate plant height development in banana.

Full-Length Transcriptome Analysis of the Secondary-Growth-Related Genes of Pinus massoniana Lamb. with Different Diameter Growth Rates

Zijing Zhou et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the transcriptome of Pinus massoniana stems with different diameter growth rates and identified 408 differentially expressed genes between fast-growing wood (FGW) and slow-growing wood (SGW). Important regulatory genes involved in secondary growth, such as ARL8, POD, EXPA8, Ecm33, and RhoA, were identified. Key genes in the lignin synthesis pathway, such as PAL, 4CL, CCR, HCT, and PER, as well as the abscisic acid receptor gene PYL and ethylene biosynthesis key gene EFE, were also identified. These genes are speculated to coordinate secondary growth processes to promote rapid growth of FGW. This study provides insight into the differential mechanisms of P. massoniana growth rate and offers a reference for obtaining high-quality and high-yield P. massoniana germplasm.

Comparative Transcriptome Analysis of Gleditsia sinensis Thorns at Different Stages of Development

Feng Xiao et al.

Summary: This study investigated the growth and development of G. sinensis thorn (Zao Jiao Ci) by measuring the content of soluble sugar and starch and performing transcriptome sequencing. The results showed changes in the sugar and starch content during thorn formation, and identified several genes that may be related to thorn maintenance and growth. Gene Ontology enrichment analysis revealed terms related to development regulation and photomorphogenesis. The study also validated the transcriptome data using real-time quantitative PCR. Overall, this research provides a comprehensive understanding of G. sinensis thorn development.

Targeted Metabolic and Transcriptomic Analysis of Pinus yunnanensis var. pygmaea with Loss of Apical Dominance

Feng Xiao et al.

Summary: The study investigates the molecular mechanisms behind the loss of shoot apical dominance in Pinus yunnanensis var. pygmaea. The findings reveal that the lack of cytokinin, the accumulation of abscisic acid and gibberellin-related hormones, abnormal synthesis of diterpenoid biosynthesis, and high expression of GA 2-oxidase gene may contribute to the loss of apical dominance and dwarfing in P. pygmaea.

Identify of Fast-Growing Related Genes Especially in Height Growth by Combining QTL Analysis and Transcriptome in Salix matsudana (Koidz)

Guoyuan Liu et al.

Summary: The study focused on the fast-growing traits of trees, specifically tree height (TH) and diameter at breast height (DBH), using a high-density genetic map to identify genetic regions for these traits. Six stable QTL related to fast-growing traits were identified on six chromosomes, and candidate genes regulating height growth were discovered. This research lays a strong foundation for further exploration of the molecular and genetic regulation of TH and DBH.
