Echocardiographic Deformation Imaging for Early Detection of Genetic Cardiomyopathies

Karim Taha et al.

Summary: Clinical screening of relatives of patients with genetic cardiomyopathies is challenging due to the lack of detectable cardiac abnormalities at presentation. Early signs of disease are crucial to identify life-threatening adverse events. Deformation imaging has shown promise in detecting early disease-specific abnormalities in different types of genetic cardiomyopathies and can enhance screening and follow-up protocols for relatives.

Arrhythmic risk prediction in arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy: external validation of the arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy risk calculator

Paloma Jorda et al.

Summary: This study validated a 5-year risk prediction model for ARVC patients, demonstrating its superior performance in guiding ICD implantation decisions compared to other published guidelines and consensus statements. The findings support the use of this model for shared decision making in the primary prevention of SCD in ARVC patients.

Importance of genotype for risk stratification in arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy using the 2019 ARVC risk calculator

Alexandros Protonotarios et al.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the influence of genotype on the performance of the 2019 risk model for ARVC. The results show that the ARVC risk model performs reasonably well in gene-positive ARVC patients, particularly for PKP2, but is more limited in gene-elusive patients. Genotype should be considered in future risk models for ARVC.

Longitudinal Prediction of Ventricular Arrhythmic Risk in Patients With Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy

Richard T. Carrick et al.

Summary: Risk factors for VA in ARVC are dynamic and overall risk for incident sustained VA decreases during follow-up. Up-to-date risk factor assessment improves VA risk stratification.

External Validation of a Risk Prediction Model for Ventricular Arrhythmias in Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy

Summary: The new 5-year ventricular arrhythmia (VA) occurrence risk model is a significant breakthrough for risk stratification in patients with arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC), but careful threshold selection is needed to avoid overestimation of risk in low-to intermediate-risk patients.

Sex differences in disease progression and arrhythmic risk in patients with arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy

Christine Rootwelt-Norberg et al.

Summary: Male AC patients were more likely to be probands and had a higher prevalence of VA than female patients, but the differences disappeared after adjusting for exercise dose. Importantly, disease progression was similar between male and female patients.
