Chemiluminescence Immunoassay Method of Urinary Liver Fatty-acid-binding Protein as a Promising Candidate for Kidney Disease

Lisong Niu et al.

Summary: A chemiluminescence method was used to measure the level of urinary L-FABP, which is a promising biomarker for early detection of renal diseases. The method showed a wide linear range (0.01-10 ng/mL) and a low limit of detection (0.0060 ng/mL). It has been successfully applied to clinical determination and can accurately predict complications in patients with kidney disease.

PPARγ Acetylation Orchestrates Adipose Plasticity and Metabolic Rhythms

Ying He et al.

Summary: This study reveals that the acetylation of PPAR gamma in adipose tissue orchestrates metabolic oscillation in daily rhythms. The findings suggest that PPAR gamma acetylation is a crucial link between adipose plasticity and metabolic rhythms, which are two determinants of metabolic health.

Menin-MLL1 Interaction Small Molecule Inhibitors: A Potential Therapeutic Strategy for Leukemia and Cancers

Qing Shi et al.

Summary: Encoded by the MEN1 gene, menin protein is essential for the oncogenic transformation of mixed-lineage leukemia (MLL) and leads to acute leukemia (AL). In recent studies, inhibitors of menin-MLL1 interaction have shown tumor suppressive ability in specific cancer cells such as prostate, breast, liver, and lung cancer. This novel therapeutic approach holds promise for the treatment of various cancers.

Menin regulates lipid deposition in mouse hepatocytes via interacting with transcription factor FoxO1

Shengxuan Wang et al.

Summary: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is recognized as the leading cause of chronic liver disease worldwide. The Men1 gene, encoding menin protein, plays a crucial role in regulating lipid deposition in hepatocytes. Menin affects various signaling pathways involved in hepatic metabolism. It interacts with the transcription factor FoxO1 to regulate hepatic lipid metabolism and responds to insulin in hepatocytes. Therefore, menin could be a potential therapeutic target for NAFLD.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and type 2 diabetes: An update

Chi-H Lee et al.

Summary: The global prevalence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is rising and is closely related to type 2 diabetes. Recent studies have shown the detrimental impact of type 2 diabetes on liver-related diseases and mortality, as well as the negative effect of NAFLD on type 2 diabetes and associated adverse clinical outcomes. Clinical care pathways and guidelines have been developed to tackle these health threats. Several antidiabetic agents have shown promising results in hepatic benefits. However, lack of awareness of this problem remains a major challenge, especially among clinicians outside the field of hepatology and gastroenterology.

Current treatment of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease

Rafael Paternostro et al.

Summary: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a liver disease with various pathologies. In addition to lifestyle changes and a few specific medications, there are new treatment options being studied. Treating complications of end-stage liver disease caused by non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is important for the treatment of the complete clinical spectrum of NAFLD.

Discovery of Novel, Potent, and Selective Small-Molecule Menin-Mixed Lineage Leukemia Interaction Inhibitors through Attempting Introduction of Hydrophilic Groups

Hao Lei et al.

Summary: The introduction of the N, N-dimethylaminoethoxy group led to the discovery of C20, a potent inhibitor of the interaction between menin and MLL. C20 showed strong binding affinity to menin protein and demonstrated significant antitumor activity in leukemia models. The study also revealed the potential of introducing hydrophilic groups for the design of menin-MLL interaction inhibitors.
