Occupational change on the dualised Swedish labour market

Summary: The Swedish labor market exhibits tendencies of both dualization and polarization, with an increase in temporary employment and both low- and high-paid jobs while middle-paid jobs decrease. This study explores the relationship between changes in occupational structure and the distribution of temporary employment. The findings show a pattern of upgrading in the overall structure, but also reveal tendencies of polarization when analyzing permanent and temporary employment separately.

Summary: High-quality longitudinal evidence on the mental health risks associated with low-quality employment trajectories is scarce. This study in Sweden found that low-quality employment trajectories increased the risk of common mental disorders, substance use disorders, and suicide attempts. There may be differential effects on men and women, especially in terms of self-employment. Policies focusing on maintaining high-quality employment characteristics are crucial in reducing these risks.

Gender equality in domestic work and sickness absence-a population-based study on women and men in Sweden

Summary: This study found that women reported lower levels of gender equality in domestic work compared to men, and satisfaction with division of domestic work was negatively associated with sickness absence among men. Work-family conflicts were associated with higher odds ratios for sickness absence in both men and women.
