C. Jorge et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the understanding of Alzheimer disease among informal caregivers and the general population using the Alzheimer's Disease Knowledge Scale. The results showed a lack of knowledge regarding disease risk factors and necessary care, while symptoms and disease progression were better understood aspects. Older caregiver age was associated with lower knowledge scores, while longer time since diagnosis improved understanding of symptoms and diagnosis. Assessment of Alzheimer disease understanding is crucial for developing health education strategies.
