Does Hysteroscopic Dissection of Partial Uterine Septum Represent a Risk Factor for Placental Abnormalities in Subsequent Pregnancy Compared with Controls Undergoing Other Hysteroscopic Surgery? Results from a Large Case-Control Analysis

Pia Hajsek et al.

Summary: A case-control study involving 1286 women was conducted to investigate the association between hysteroscopic septum dissection (HSD) and placental abnormalities. The results showed that HSD had no influence on the occurrence of placental abnormalities, regardless of the method of conception. In the first singleton pregnancy, HSD did not increase the rate of placental abnormalities compared to other hysteroscopic procedures.

Role of Genomic and Molecular Biology in the Modulation of the Treatment of Endometrial Cancer: Narrative Review and Perspectives

Ilaria Cuccu et al.

Summary: Endometrial cancer (EC) is a common gynecological malignancy, and molecular and genomic profiling have shown promise in predicting recurrence risk. However, there is limited data on therapeutic value. Ongoing studies are focused on identifying appropriate adjuvant strategies, especially for patients with positive nodes and low volume disease. Molecular classification has the potential to improve risk stratification and management in EC patients. This review aims to explore the evolution of molecular classification and its impact on research and clinical management.

Uterine rupture in pregnancy after hysteroscopic septum resection: a 20-year retrospective analysis

Vid Jansa et al.

Summary: In this study, cases of uterine rupture after hysteroscopic septum resection (HSR) were reviewed. Four cases were identified, highlighting the rarity and life-threatening nature of this event. Prompt diagnosis is crucial for successful management and to prevent adverse maternal-fetal outcomes.

Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis found that hysteroscopic metroplasty can reduce adverse reproductive outcomes, such as miscarriage and preterm birth, in patients with uterine septum. However, further confirmation through randomized controlled trials is needed.

Summary: This study assessed the effect of uterine septum resection on reproductive outcomes in patients with secondary infertility undergoing in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection. The results showed that uterine septum resection improved the pregnancy rates and live birth rates in these patients.

The risk of preterm birth in women with uterine fibroids: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Anadeijda J. E. M. C. Landman et al.

Summary: This study found that fibroids are associated with an increased risk of preterm birth, especially in early gestational ages. The study also suggests a possible association between fibroids and spontaneous and medically indicated preterm births, although data on this are limited and further research is needed.

Uterine Septum with or without Hysteroscopic Metroplasty: Impact on Fertility and Obstetrical Outcomes-A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Observational Research

Marco Noventa et al.

Summary: This study conducted a systematic review/meta-analysis to evaluate the impact of septate uterus and hysteroscopic metroplasty on reproductive and obstetrics outcomes in infertile/recurrent miscarriage patients. The results showed that septate uterus had a detrimental effect on pregnancy rate, live birth rate, spontaneous abortion, and preterm labor. However, the removal of septum through hysteroscopic metroplasty reduced the rate of spontaneous abortion.

Pregnancy and Adverse Obstetric Outcomes After Hysteroscopic Resection: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Xue Wu et al.

Summary: The objective of this study was to determine the effects of hysteroscopic resection on pregnancy outcomes in women. The results showed that hysteroscopic resection significantly reduced the risk of miscarriage and malpresentation while increasing the rate of term delivery. However, the rates of preterm birth, cesarean section, and postpartum hemorrhage remained higher compared to the normal uterus group.

Fibroids and natural fertility: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Edgardo Somigliana et al.

Summary: Available evidence from IVF studies indicates a detrimental effect of submucosal and intramural fibroids on embryo implantation, but this should not be extrapolated to natural fertility. Current research on the impact of fibroids on natural fertility is inadequate, and further investigation is needed to understand the association between fibroids and infertility.
