An efficient technique for solving fractional-order diffusion equations arising in oil pollution

Hardik Patel et al.

Summary: This article discusses the use of non-linear time-fractional diffusion equations to describe oil pollution in the water. The fractional reduced differential transform method (FRDTM) is employed to obtain approximate solutions for the equations. The results are compared with exact solutions and other literature results, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed method. Therefore, FRDTM can be applied to solve various types of nonlinear fractional-order IVPs in engineering and science.

Command-filtered adaptive neural network backstepping quantized control for fractional-order nonlinear systems with asymmetric actuator dead-zone via disturbance observer

Jinzhu Yu et al.

Summary: An adaptive neural network backstepping quantized control method is proposed for fractional-order nonlinear systems with asymmetric actuator dead-zone and unknown external disturbance. An adaptive neural network mechanism is designed to estimate uncertain functions, and a command filter is introduced to avoid the complexity problem. A fractional-order disturbance observer is developed to handle the unknown external disturbance, and a hysteresis-type quantizer is used to quantify the final input signal. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified through examples.

Adaptive composite dynamic surface neural control for nonlinear fractional-order systems subject to delayed input

Siwen Liu et al.

Summary: This article discusses the design problem of an adaptive composite dynamic surface neural controller for nonlinear fractional-order systems (NFOSs) subject to delayed input. A fractional-order auxiliary system is first designed to solve the input-delay problem and the weights of radial basis function neural networks (RBFNNs) are determined based on prediction errors and the states of the error system using novel estimation models. The developed fractional-order filters address the complexity explosion problem when utilizing the classical backstepping control technique. Simulation results demonstrate the feasibility of the developed controller, which can also be applied to SISO nonlinear systems subject to a unitary input function.

Optimal control of nonlinear fractional order delay systems governed by Fredholm integral equations based on a new fractional derivative operator

Hamid Reza Marzban

Summary: This research aims to develop a direct transcription approach for solving optimal control problems governed by nonlinear fractional Fredholm integral equations with delays in input and output signals. The new methodology is based on a multi domains decomposition scheme using fractional-order Legendre functions. A new fractional derivative operator associated with the fractional basis is introduced using the Caputo fractional derivative operator. The dynamical system related to the fractional control problem is transformed into a new system of algebraic equations using derivative and delay operators. Various challenging test problems are studied to demonstrate the effectiveness of the designed approach.

Observers-based event-triggered adaptive fuzzy backstepping synchronization of uncertain fractional order chaotic systems

Hanlin Dong et al.

Summary: In this paper, an observer-based event-triggered adaptive fuzzy backstepping synchronization control method is proposed for a class of uncertain fractional order chaotic systems. Fuzzy logic systems are used to estimate unknown functions and a fractional order command filter is designed to avoid complexity problems. An effective error compensation mechanism is devised to reduce filter error and improve synchronization accuracy. The designed controller ensures convergence of the synchronization error and avoids Zeno behavior, as demonstrated through numerical simulations.

Chaotic dynamics in some fractional predator-prey models via a new Caputo operator based on the generalised Gamma function

A. E. Matouk et al.

Summary: We propose a generalisation of the Caputo fractional differential operator using the generalised Gamma function instead of the Euler Gamma function. The new operator introduces a fractional parameter that influences the dynamics of the model. We explore the mathematical properties of the generalised Caputo operator and apply it to predator-prey models like the fractional Hastings-Powell food chain model and the fractional generalised Lotka-Volterra model. Simulation results demonstrate a variety of chaotic attractors in these systems when varying the parameter of the new operator.

Nikita S. Belevtsov et al.

Summary: This paper investigates a fractional Helmholtz equation with the fractional Laplacian, constructs fundamental solutions and their factorized representations using H-functions, derives a multipole expansion and a technique for evaluating H-functions, and develops a modified multipole method for solving the equation. Numerical results demonstrate high efficiency. The proposed algorithm is used to study a fractional generalization of a mathematical model for plane polarized electromagnetic wave propagation in an inhomogeneous medium.

Fuzzy Command Filter Backstepping Control for Incommensurate Fractional-Order Systems via Composite Learning

Fawaz E. Alsaadi et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the command filter backstepping control of uncertain fractional-order generalized strict-feedback nonlinear systems with input nonlinearities and functional uncertainties based on a composite learning method. The main motivations are to simplify backstepping control, avoid the calculation of derivatives of virtual controller functions by providing a fractional-order command filter, and achieve parameter convergence without the strict persistency of excitation condition via fractional-order composite learning laws. The proposed method improves the control performance in closed-loop system.

Robust H∞ Adaptive Sliding Mode Fault Tolerant Control for T-S Fuzzy Fractional Order Systems With Mismatched Disturbances

Xuefeng Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper presents an H-infinity adaptive sliding mode fault tolerant control method for uncertain T-S fuzzy fractional order systems, with adaptive laws designed to estimate the upper bounds of nonlinear terms and a reduced dimension sliding surface constructed by state transformation. A sufficient condition is established using linear matrix inequalities to ensure stability of the sliding motion, with a new control law designed to reach the sliding surface in finite time, and both state and output feedback control forms addressed. Numerical simulations illustrate the proposed methods.
