Frameless Robotic-Assisted Biopsy of Pediatric Brainstem Lesions: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Efficacy and Safety

Summary: A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of frameless, robot-assisted biopsy for pediatric brainstem lesions. The results showed a high success rate in achieving tumor diagnosis and low rates of postoperative complications. Further research is needed to incorporate robot and automated technologies into the diagnostic workup.

Repeat surgery for pediatric epilepsy: a systematic review and meta-analysis of resection and disconnection approaches

Summary: Repeat epilepsy surgery in children, whether resection or disconnection, is likely to lead to complete seizure freedom in approximately half of the patients who had unsuccessful initial surgery. While there is no statistical difference in complete seizure freedom between repeat resection and disconnection surgeries, complications are more common following repeat resection.

Age of diagnosis clinically differentiates atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumors diagnosed below age of 3 years: a database study

Summary: A study on pediatric ATRT patients under the age of 3 in the US revealed clinical differences based on age of diagnosis. Patients diagnosed between 0-1 years showed better survival with surgery and chemotherapy, those diagnosed between 1-2 years had longer survival with radiation therapy, and socioeconomic parameters played a significant role in those diagnosed between 2-3 years.
