Multilevel cervical disc arthroplasty: a review of optimal surgical management and future directions

Tsung-Hsi Tu et al.

Summary: Cervical disc arthroplasty (CDA) is a popular surgical option for cervical radiculopathy or myelopathy caused by disc problems. A bibliometric analysis of CDA literature reveals a trend towards multilevel CDA and fewer studies comparing CDA to anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF). CDA has proven to be effective in maintaining segmental mobility and neurologic improvement with low complication rates, especially for 1- and 2-level disc diseases.

Incidence and Risk Factor of Implant Dislocation After Cervical Disk Arthroplasty: A Retrospective Cohort Analysis of 756 Patients

Chin-Chu Ko et al.

Summary: This study investigated the incidence and risk factors of implant dislocation after cervical disk arthroplasty (CDA) through a retrospective cohort analysis. The results showed a low incidence of implant dislocation, with preoperative kyphosis being a significant risk factor. The study concludes that CDA is a safe and reliable procedure.

Anterior Bone Loss in Cervical Disc Arthroplasty Correlates with Increased Cervical Lordosis

Chao-Hung Kuo et al.

Summary: This study investigated the incidence of anterior bone loss (ABL) and its correlation with cervical alignment post-operation in patients who underwent cervical disc arthroplasty (CDA). The findings revealed that ABL was a common radiologic finding during the mean follow-up of 2 years. Additionally, the changes in cervical lordosis after CDA were associated with the grade of ABL.
