A Casing Deformation Prediction Model Considering the Properties of Cement

Bo Zeng et al.

Summary: A large amount of casing deformation has been observed in shale gas wells during fracturing, affecting construction and production. Formation slip is identified as the main mechanism of casing deformation in shale gas wells through statistical analysis and caliper logging interpretation. Simply increasing casing steel grade and wall thickness has limited effect, and comprehensive measures for casing deformation prevention should be considered. An analytical model for the minimum drift diameter of shale gas casing under the effect of fracture slip is established and verified, providing technical support for cement parameter selection and casing deformation prevention measures.

Preparation of SiO2 coated carbon fibers and its interfacial properties with cement paste matrix

Yanan Geng et al.

Summary: This paper obtained SiO2 coating-CF toughening material by using SiO2 modified carbon fibers (CFs) surface. The mechanical properties and mechanism of SiO2 coated-CF cement stone were discussed. The results showed that the mechanical properties of SiO2 coated-CF cement paste are significantly improved, with a compressive strength of 32.98 MPa and a 162% increase in tensile strength after 14 days of curing. The CF after adding SiO2 surface film improves the adhesion between the interface and the fiber, thus enhancing the performance of CF reinforced cement paste.

Effect of Graphite on the Mechanical and Petrophysical Properties of Class G Oil Well Cement

Muhammad Andiva Pratama et al.

Summary: This study aims to analyze the effect of graphite on properties such as compressive strength, tensile strength, Poisson's ratio, Young's modulus, porosity, and permeability of cement. Equations describing the future change in cement properties with time were established based on a three-day curing process. The results showed that the incorporation of graphite increased the compressive strength, tensile strength, and Poisson's ratio, while decreasing Young's modulus, porosity, and permeability of the cement sheath.

The mechanism of pores enhancing the deformation of completion cement under confining pressure

Tao He et al.

Summary: The strength and deformation characteristics of cement with pores play a crucial role in the integrity of wellbore structures. This study explores the damage law of cement with pores and establishes a damage evolution model to analyze the effects of primary pores and secondary micro-cracks on cement behavior. Tests and numerical calculations reveal that the presence of pores can both weaken the strength and enhance the deformability of porous cement, with different porosity levels leading to varying levels of damage in the cement sheath.

Coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical analysis of perforated cement sheath integrity during hydraulic fracturing

Yan Yan et al.

Summary: A fully coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical (THM) model was established to investigate the stress variation of cement sheath during fracturing process. The results indicate that casing pressure and cement mechanical parameters are the main controlling factors for the failure of perforated cement sheath, and extremely low casing pressure is beneficial for maintaining cement sheath integrity.

Influence of Casing Eccentricity on the Mechanical Integrity of Cement Sheaths in Fractured Wells

Shuangjin Zheng et al.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of casing eccentricity on the mechanical integrity of cement sheaths in fractured wells, proposing measures to safeguard the integrity of cement sheaths under casing eccentric conditions. The results show that casing eccentricity can lead to stress concentration and failure of the cement sheath, with specific recommendations on how to prevent mechanical integrity failure. This research provides important technical insights for optimizing the casing center degree.
