Lee T. Gettler et al.

Summary: This study examines gender differences in food sharing in the cooperative networks of BaYaka foragers from the Congo Basin. The results indicate that women are more inclined to share food with other women, especially with kin. This may be related to the social support needed by women in terms of reproduction and childcare.

Enhancing imagery rehearsal therapy for nightmares with targeted memory reactivation

Sophie Schwartz et al.

Summary: This study used targeted memory reactivation (TMR) to enhance the effectiveness of imagery rehearsal therapy (IRT) for nightmare disorder (ND). The results showed that after 2 weeks of combined TMR and IRT treatment, patients in the TMR group had a lower frequency of nightmares and more positive dream emotions compared to the control group. Additionally, TMR applied during REM sleep was found to modulate emotions in dreams.

Dreamers' evaluation of the emotional valence of their day-to-day dreams is indicative of some mood regulation function

Kheana Barbeau et al.

Summary: Dreams may contribute to psychological adaptation by regulating mood, possibly through the process of desensitization where negative events are replayed in dreams with lower levels of negative emotion. Evidence suggests that dreamers tend to evaluate their emotions in dreams more positively and that morning emotions are more positive, indicating overnight emotional regulation. This study aimed to examine the relationships between pre-sleep, dream, and morning mood, and the potential desensitization function of remembered dreams on morning mood and stress.
