Changes of the retinal and choroidal vasculature in cerebral small vessel disease

Clara F. Geerling et al.

Summary: This study investigated the changes in retinal and choroidal vasculature in patients with CSVD using optical coherence tomography angiography. The results showed significant alterations in eye vasculature in CSVD patients, which may have implications for the diagnosis and monitoring of CSVD.

Retinal Microvascular Changes in Hypertensive Patients with Different Levels of Blood Pressure Control and without Hypertensive Retinopathy

Dihao Hua et al.

Summary: This study used OCTA technology to observe retinal microvascular changes in the macula and optic nerve head of hypertensive patients. The results showed a significant reduction in retinal VD in hypertensive patients with poor blood pressure control, and lower levels in some retinal VD areas in the standard blood pressure control group. Additionally, there was a significant correlation between RNFL thickness in the optic nerve head and diastolic blood pressure.

Choriocapillaris microvasculature dysfunction in systemic hypertension

Jacqueline Chua et al.

Summary: This study used SS-OCTA to examine choriocapillaris microvasculature in hypertensive patients and healthy controls. The results showed larger CFD areas and fewer numbers in hypertensive patients with poor BP control, with significant associations with systolic BP, eGFR, and urine MCR. These findings suggest a potential role for choriocapillaris imaging as an indicator of systemic microvascular abnormalities in hypertensive disease.

A randomized evaluation of the TriGuard™ HDH cerebral embolic protection device to Reduce the Impact of Cerebral Embolic LEsions after TransCatheter Aortic Valve Implan Tation: the REFLECT I trial

Alexandra J. Lansky et al.

Summary: The REFLECT I trial investigated the safety and effectiveness of the TriGuard(TM) HDH(TG) cerebral embolic deflection device in patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve replacement. The study enrolled 258 patients, with the primary safety outcome being met but the primary efficacy endpoint not being met. TG was found to be safe compared to historical TAVR data, but did not meet the predefined effectiveness endpoint compared with unprotected TAVR controls.

Retinal and choriocapillaris perfusion are associated with ankle-brachial-pressure-index and Fontaine stage in peripheral arterial disease

Maximilian W. M. Wintergerst et al.

Summary: This study found that both retinal and choroidal perfusion are significantly impaired in patients with PAD, as demonstrated by changes in vessel density and non-perfused areas. OCT-A parameters could serve as indirect imaging biomarkers for non-invasive PAD staging and monitoring.
