Responses of survival, growth, and feeding of the invasive Golden Apple Snail (Pomacea canaliculata) to salinity stress

Pengyuan Liu et al.

Summary: Golden Apple Snails, one of the most aggressive invasive freshwater snails, threaten trophic structure in invaded ecosystems and harms human health. They have a salinity tolerance of <= 5.0 PSU and may die in higher salinities.

Environmental fate of cigarette butts and their toxicity in aquatic organisms: A comprehensive systematic review

Sina Dobaradaran et al.

Summary: Cigarette butts are the most frequently littered pieces of environmental wastes, and their leachates can be extremely toxic to various organisms in aquatic environments. Exposure time and the type of cigarette butt can affect mortality rate, and cigarette butts can float for a long time in water before sinking, potentially being ingested by diverse aquatic organisms. Further studies are needed to understand the exact toxicity of cigarette butts on different freshwater and marine organisms and their fate in aquatic environments.
