Nonlinear thermo-elastic stability of variable stiffness curvilinear fibres based layered composite beams by shear deformable trigonometric beam model coupled with modified constitutive equations

Ganapathi Manickam et al.

Summary: This paper attempts to investigate the nonlinear thermo-elastic buckling characteristics of composite variable stiffness beams made of curvilinear fibers under thermal environment. A model based on shear deformable theory introducing trigonometric function and considering geometrical nonlinear effect is proposed. By solving incremental stiffness matrices, the relationship between thermal temperature and beam deflection is established. Parametric analysis is conducted to study the thermo-structural stability of curvilinear fiber-based beams, considering different lamina properties and geometric factors.

Robust Consensus in a Class of Fractional-Order Multi-Agent Systems with Interval Uncertainties Using the Existence Condition of Hermitian Matrices

Mohammadreza Riazat et al.

Summary: This study presents the necessary and sufficient conditions for achieving consensus in a class of fractional-order multi-agent systems (FOMAS) with interval uncertainties. It is shown that consensus can be reached if there exist Hermitian matrices that satisfy a complex Lyapunov inequality. The existence condition of the Hermitian matrices is determined by the unstable agents and the Lyapunov inequality. By using a limited number of vertex matrices, the necessary and sufficient conditions for consensus in a FOMAS with internal uncertainties are obtained. Numerical simulations are provided to confirm the results.

Delay-Dependent Stability Region for the Distributed Coordination of Delayed Fractional-Order Multi-Agent Systems

Abbasali Koochakzadeh et al.

Summary: This paper addresses the issue of achieving consensus in delayed fractional-order multi-agent systems (FOMAS). By extending the results of non-delayed networked fractional-order systems, the stability of FOMAS with non-identical communication time-delays is analyzed. Necessary and sufficient conditions for coordination are presented by considering a time-delay coordination algorithm. The relationship between the maximum allowable delay and the agent fractional-order and the largest eigenvalue of the graph Laplacian matrix is determined, and numerical simulations confirm the proposed methodologies.

Adaptive self-organizing fuzzy sliding mode controller for a nonlocal strain gradient nanobeam

Arman Rajaei et al.

Summary: In this study, an adaptive self-organizing fuzzy sliding mode controller is developed for vibration control of an Euler-Bernoulli nanobeam. By considering the mid-plane stretching effect, the control equation of the nanobeam is derived, and two fuzzy controllers are proposed to adjust parameters and improve system response.

Explicit Solutions to Large Deformation of Cantilever Beams by Improved Homotopy Analysis Method I: Rotation Angle

Yinshan Li et al.

Summary: This paper proposes an improved homotopy analysis method (IHAM) for solving nonlinear differential equations, particularly in cases with strong nonlinearity. The method is applied to derive explicit solutions for the rotation angle of a cantilever beam under point load at the free end. Compared to traditional methods, this improved method includes two steps and achieves faster convergence and a larger convergence range. For the problem of large deflection in beams, the solution obtained with this method is more approachable for engineering designers, reducing potential errors due to extreme beam lengths.

State estimation and fuzzy sliding mode control of nonlinear Markovian jump systems via adaptive neural network

Zhengtian Wu et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a method for state estimation and sliding mode control of Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model based on an adaptive neural network, which is suitable for nonlinear systems with Markovian switching rules. A multi-layer neural network is used to approximate the unknown local nonlinearity, and a Lebesgue fuzzy observer and fuzzy sliding mode controller are designed for state estimation and control. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through simulation studies.

Chaotic Oscillations in a Fractional-Order Circuit with a Josephson Junction Resonator and Its Synchronization Using Fuzzy Sliding Mode Control

Balamurali Ramakrishnan et al.

Summary: This paper explores a linear resistive capacitive inductive shunted model of a Josephson junction with a topologically nontrivial behavior. A fractional-order flux-controlled memristor is introduced to effectively model the feedback flux effects across the Josephson junction. The proposed Josephson junction oscillator exhibits both stable and unstable regions of oscillations for different choices of equilibrium points and fractional order, with regions of coexisting attractors. Synchronization of the oscillator is achieved using fuzzy sliding mode control, with estimation of the chattering amplitude through fuzzy logic to minimize error.

Summary: This investigation proposes a nonsingular terminal sliding mode control strategy to improve the dynamic stability of capacitive microstructures and mitigate the effects of disturbances and uncertainties. By using Lyapunov theory, the stability of the controller is proven, and methods to overcome singularity conditions are presented. A fundamental solution for the harmonic vibration of asymmetrically laminated composite plates described by a higher-order theory of shear strains

C. H. Daros

Summary: In this work, a fundamental solution for the harmonic vibration of thick asymmetrically laminated composite plates is derived based on Reddy's third-order shear deformation theory. The solution is obtained using the Fourier transform and expressed in terms of definite integrals, which are numerically evaluated. All spatial singularities are explicitly obtained, making the solution suitable for implementation in a boundary element method.
