Development of Ag-doped on multi-walled carbon nanotubes for the treatment of fish pond effluent

Saadatu Aliyu et al.

Summary: This study explored the treatment of fish pond wastewater utilizing nanocomposites through batch adsorption using purified carbon nanotubes (P-CNTs) and silver-doped carbon nanotubes (Ag-CNTs) as nano-adsorbents. The synthesized AgNPs were confirmed using ultraviolet spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). The adsorption behavior of P-CNTs and Ag-CNTs in removing Fe, Mn, and Zn from fish pond effluent was investigated, and the Freundlich isotherm and pseudo-second-order model were found to describe the equilibrium sorption data and adsorption kinetics, respectively. Thermodynamic analysis showed that the adsorption process was feasible and spontaneous. It has been demonstrated that removing heavy metals from aquatic effluent using Ag-doped CNTs is effective in aquaculture.

Studying the destruction of pollutant in the presence of photocatalysts based on MWCNTs with controlled values of TiO2 nanoparticles

Sedigheh Abbasi

Summary: The main goal of this research is to synthesize new photocatalysts to reduce organic pollutants in water. Two types of photocatalysts named MCT#1 and MCT#2 are synthesized by controlling the TiO2 nanoparticles in the samples containing MWCNTs. XRD analysis shows that both photocatalysts have a higher percentage of anatase phase compared to rutile. The degradation rate analysis demonstrates that MCT#2 has higher photocatalytic activity due to a higher concentration of TiO2 nanoparticles.
