Stress response of Rhamdia quelen to the interaction stocking density - Feeding regimen

Hugo Napolea Pereira da Silva et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effects of different feeding and stocking conditions on the gene expression of hormones and enzymes related to stress and metabolism in silver catfish. The results showed that low stocking density and high stocking density had different effects on the growth rate and metabolic parameters of the fish. In addition, food deprivation also affected gene expression, indicating a higher stress response.

Developmental RNA-Seq transcriptomics of haploid germ cells and spermatozoa uncovers novel pathways associated with teleost spermiogenesis

Julia Castro-Arnau et al.

Summary: This study investigated the molecular mechanisms involved in the transformation of haploid germ cells into spermatozoa in the marine teleost gilthead seabream. The transcriptome changes between germ cells and ejaculated sperm were examined, identifying differentially expressed genes and long non-coding RNAs. The upregulated genes were found to be involved in various cellular processes, including transcriptional and translational regulation, chromatin and cytoskeleton organization, and metabolic processes. Pathway analysis revealed the enrichment of signaling pathways related to chemokines, cytokines, gonadotropin-releasing hormone receptors, and platelet derived growth factors.

Sperm quality of greater amberjack Seriola dumerili throughout the reproductive season and in response to GnRHa treatment with controlled release implants

Ioannis Fakriadis et al.

Summary: Research conducted on wild-caught greater amberjack reared in sea cages in Greece found differences in sperm quality after single and double GnRHa administrations, with high temperatures being identified as a factor affecting sperm quality. Further studies are recommended to investigate the kinetics of sperm production and the effects of GnRHa therapy on sperm quality.

Aurora A Kinase (AURKA) is required for male germline maintenance and regulates sperm motility in the mouse.

William C. Lester et al.

Summary: Aurora A kinase (AURKA) plays multiple important roles in spermatogenesis, involving in mitotic division, affecting sperm count and fertility, and regulating sperm morphology and motility. Deletion of AURKA in spermatogonia and spermatocytes led to different outcomes, highlighting the diverse functions of AURKA in different stages of sperm development.
