Terahertz all-silicon metasurfaces with off-axis bifocal characteristics for polarization detection

Hui Li et al.

Summary: Functional devices for terahertz (THz) polarization detection in transmission mode are highly desired in integrated applications. The combination between all-silicon metasurfaces and focused beams carrying polarization information offers a new opportunity for miniaturized polarization detection behavior. The proposed scheme, based on the polarization multiplexing encoding technique, allows for efficient miniaturized polarization detection and has potential applications in high-resolution imaging, remote sensing, and THz communications.

Polarization Detection of Terahertz Waves using All-Silicon Metasurfaces with Tightly Focusing Behavior

Hui Li et al.

Summary: The feasibility of reconstructing the full-Stokes parameter matrix in the THz band is explored by establishing an all-silicon decoupled metasurface based on the polarization multiplexing encoding technique. Pixelated focal spots gathered in the target plane allow for more elaborate methods to extract the characteristic parameters of the incident polarization states. The resolvability of THz polarization detection is optimized with a single focal spot by utilizing the longitudinal polarization component (E-z) generated by the tightly focused beam.

Dynamically dual-tunable dual-band to four-band metamaterial absorbers based on bulk Dirac semimetal and vanadium dioxide

BaoJing Hu et al.

Summary: In this work, we investigate dynamically dual-tunable dual-band, triple-band, and four-band metamaterial absorbers (MAs) based on a bulk Dirac semimetal (BDS) and vanadium dioxide (VO2). The dual-band, triple-band, and four-band MAs can be realized when the VO2 is in a fully metallic state due to the bright-bright mode coupling between BDS rods. The average absorptivity of the absorption peaks in the three MAs reaches high values. The resonant frequencies and absorptance intensities at absorption peaks in each MA can be dynamically tuned by varying the BDS Fermi energy and the VO2 conductivity.

Dynamically adjustable plasmon-induced transparency and switching application based on bilayer graphene metamaterials

Fengqi Zhou et al.

Summary: A bilayer metamaterial consisting of double graphene strips and square-ring graphene is proposed to achieve plasmon induced transparency (PIT). Dynamic adjustable PIT is investigated by modulating the Fermi levels of graphene and adjusting the coupling distance between the two graphene structures, showing that PIT gradually disappears with increasing coupling distance. The clear relationships between dips of PIT and modes of CMT are described, which are influenced by the relative location of resonant points of bright and dark modes.
