The Risk Reduction Effect of a Nutritional Intervention With a Partially Hydrolyzed Whey-Based Formula on Cow's Milk Protein Allergy and Atopic Dermatitis in High-Risk Infants Within the First 6 Months of Life: The Allergy Reduction Trial (ART), a Multicenter Double-Blinded Randomized Controlled Study

Nicolaos Nicolaou et al.

Summary: This study investigated the risk-reduction effect of a whey-based partially hydrolyzed formula (pHF) on the development of cow's milk protein allergy (CMPA) and atopic dermatitis (AD) in high-risk infants. The results showed that the whey-based pHF significantly reduced the incidence of AD, particularly in infants with a family history. However, the effect on the development of CMPA was not significant.

Atopic Dermatitis and Food Allergy: A Complex Interplay What We Know and What We Would Like to Learn

Niki Papapostolou et al.

Summary: Atopic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder with complex underlying mechanisms. Food allergy can trigger exacerbations of atopic dermatitis, while atopic dermatitis predisposes to food allergy. Management of atopic dermatitis should focus on skin care and appropriate treatments, with thorough allergy evaluation in case of suspected food allergy.

Strategies and Future Opportunities for the Prevention, Diagnosis, and Management of Cow Milk Allergy

Benjamin Zepeda-Ortega et al.

Summary: The prevalence of food allergy, including cow milk allergy (CMA), has increased over the last 20-30 years. International allergy experts met to discuss prevention and management strategies for CMA, emphasizing the importance of primary prevention starting from pre-pregnancy focusing on healthy lifestyle and food diversity to ensure adequate transfer of inhibitory IgG-allergen immune complexes.
