Role of neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio, platelet-lymphocyte ratio, lymphocyte-monocyte ratio and platelets in prognosis of patients with prostate cancer

Joanna Huszno et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate the prognostic values of various blood parameters in prostate cancer patients treated with radiotherapy. The study found that platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), lymphocyte-monocyte ratio (LMR), platelets (PLT), and neutrophil levels were associated with overall survival (OS) in these patients.

Summary: This study presents the long-term outcomes of metastasis-directed therapy (MDT) in oligometastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer (omCSPC) and investigates the impact of high-risk mutations on treatment outcomes.

Neutrophil Lymphocyte Ratio to Albumin Ratio and White Blood Cell to Hemoglobin Ratio as Prognostic Markers for Hepatocellular Carcinoma Patients Who Underwent Curative Hepatectomy

Xueqin Shen et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that preoperative neutrophil lymphocyte ratio to albumin ratio (NLRAR) and white blood cell to hemoglobin ratio (WHR) can be used as prognostic indicators for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients post curative hepatectomy. These indicators showed the highest predictive value for patients in tumor stage I. The NLRAR-WHR scoring system (NWS) was more efficient than individual NLRAR or WHR in predicting overall survival (OS) of HCC patients.

The Mutational Landscape of Metastatic Castration-sensitive Prostate Cancer: The Spectrum Theory Revisited

Matthew P. Deek et al.

Summary: Somatic mutational profiles across the spectrum of metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer reveal associations between TP53 mutations and clinical outcomes in patients with oligometastasis, indicating a potential biological definition of oligometastasis beyond numerical classifications. Mutation analysis in TP53 and DNA double-strand break repair genes may help predict the number of metastases and clinical outcomes in patients with mCSPC.

Exploring miRNA Signature and Other Potential Biomarkers for Oligometastatic Prostate Cancer Characterization: The Biological Challenge behind Clinical Practice. A Narrative Review

Giulia Corrao et al.

Summary: The oligometastatic prostate cancer status is defined by a small number of lesions and is associated with better survival compared to a higher number of metastases. Molecular profiling through liquid biopsy can refine therapeutic strategies and aid in the identification of true oligometastatic patients for precision oncology.

Tissue- and Blood-derived Genomic Biomarkers for Metastatic Hormone-sensitive Prostate Cancer: A Systematic Review

Kim Van der Eecken et al.

Summary: This study reviewed the genomic alterations of metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer and found several genetic mutations associated with differential prognosis and clinical phenotypes. It emphasized the importance of validating potential predictive biomarkers in biomarker-driven randomized controlled trials before clinical implementation. Standardization of assay methodology and reporting is crucial for ensuring rapid scalability.

Metastasis-directed Therapy Prolongs Efficacy of Systemic Therapy and Improves Clinical Outcomes in Oligoprogressive Castration-resistant Prostate Cancer

Matthew P. Deek et al.

Summary: SABR treatment for oligoprogressive castrate-resistant prostate cancer patients can improve outcomes and enhance cancer control. Compared to changing systemic therapy alone, MDT showed better results in terms of time to PSA failure, time to next intervention, and distant metastasis-free survival.
