HBO Alleviates Neural Stem Cell Pyroptosis via lncRNA-H19/miR-423-5p/NLRP3 Axis and Improves Neurogenesis after Oxygen Glucose Deprivation

Yuqin Ye et al.

Summary: Due to the limited capacity of neurogenesis, recovery from neurological dysfunction caused by stroke has been a major challenge. This study found that hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) treatment alleviates oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD) injury and reduces programmed death of neural stem cells (NSCs). The protective effect of HBO is mediated through the inhibition of lncRNA-H19/miR-423-5p/NLRP3 axis, leading to enhanced neurogenesis and improved NSC proliferation and differentiation.

miR-23b-3p rescues cognition in Alzheimer?s disease by reducing tau phosphorylation and apoptosis via GSK-3B signaling pathways

Hailun Jiang et al.

Summary: The reduced expression of miR-23b-3p in Alzheimer's disease patients contributes to cognitive dysfunction and aberrant tau hyperphosphorylation by inhibiting GSK-3ll. This study suggests that miR-23b-3p could be a promising therapeutic target for Alzheimer's disease.

Brain Cells Release Calreticulin That Attracts and Activates Microglia, and Inhibits Amyloid Beta Aggregation and Neurotoxicity

Kyle M. Reid et al.

Summary: The study found that calreticulin can be released by microglia and neurons, and it affects microglia and neurons relevant to neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration. It can chemotactically attract and activate microglia to release cytokines and chemokines, block A beta fibrillization and modify A beta oligomerization, alter microglial morphology and proliferation, and provide neuroprotection against A beta neurotoxicity.

Differential and unique patterns of synaptic miRNA expression in dorsolateral prefrontal cortex of depressed subjects

Yuta Yoshino et al.

Summary: This study examined the role of miRNAs at synapse in major depressive disorder (MDD) by sequencing and analyzing miRNAs in synaptic and total tissue fractions. The findings suggest that altered miRNAs may be involved in synaptic plasticity, nervous system development, and neurogenesis in MDD pathogenesis. Additionally, shifts in expression ratios of certain miRNAs and changes in miRNA processing enzymes were observed in MDD subjects.
