Efficacy and Safety of Coenzyme Q10 Supplementation in the Treatment of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome: a Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Tianqing Zhang et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of coenzyme Q10 supplementation in the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The results showed that coenzyme Q10 supplementation may improve insulin resistance, regulate sex hormone levels, and improve blood lipids. Only one study reported adverse events and found no adverse effects following supplementation.

Coenzyme Q(10) as Adjunctive Therapy for Cardiovascular Disease and Hypertension: A Systematic Review

Carolyn B. Sue-Ling et al.

Summary: Coenzyme Q(10) (CoQ(10)) supplementation added to conventional therapy is safe and beneficial in predominantly older adult males with cardiovascular disease (CVD) or hypertension (HTN) at both clinical and cellular levels. However, caution should be exercised when interpreting the results of the trials, and further research is needed before recommending widespread usage of CoQ(10) in all older adults.

Coenzyme Q10 Supplementation and Its Impact on Exercise and Sport Performance in Humans: A Recovery or a Performance-Enhancing Molecule?

Franchek Drobnic et al.

Summary: Evidence suggests that ROS can cause muscular injury and decrease physical performance. Therefore, supplementation with antioxidants is important for physically active individuals to recover from fatigue and prevent exercise damage. Coenzyme Q(10) has shown potential as a supplement for optimizing exercise performance and protecting muscles during exercise.
